Overview:
See the [BASE] configuration for the history behind this mech. This and the following files
will focus more on the technical capabilities of each configuration.
Capabilities:
At first glance the Obsidian Idol is a fairly typical assault mech.
Maneuverability is on par with almost every 100 ton mech ever made. Armor
coverage is actually lighter then average with only 18.5 tons of standard armor
covering the chassis. What truly makes this mech is the weapons capacity. 59
tons of available pod space allows the Obsidian Idol to carry an unmatched bite.
The F configuration embraces the roll of brawling in built up areas. Multiple clusters of
Medium Pulse lasers backed by a targeting computer give this configuration a
dangerous edge in close combat. The nearly ubiquitous Gauss Rifles are found
once again in this configuration,but with 20 rounds of ammo available to each
one the chance of running dry is remote. Refinement of this configuration
changed its mission profile from simple close
assault to vanguard, with the inclusion of an active probe. In a close
quarters environment the F configuration is not to be trifled with.
Deployment:
The F configuration was the final configuration introduced during the Dark Caste war. It's
main feature was the introduction of jump jets. Which had always been a possible option for
the finely crafted Omni-mech but had never needed to be used. This changed in the final
phases of the war when Clan forces were assaulting Dark Caste cities. Entire buildings were
being dropped to create barricades just to slow down Clan advances. Since slowing down
would allow more Dark Caste to escape, being able to go over obstacles to maintain momentum
was at a premium.
Variants:
The earliest version of this configuration had an extra ton of ammo in place of the active
probe. The emphasis on ammo capacity seems to be a response to the several other
configurations with only a limited supply of ammo. Very quickly this response calmed down
in favor of improved information gathering capabilities.

The Dark Caste war ended with the near total genocide of all United Freemen that were not
able to escape. Children were stripped from their parents and raised in clan society.
Young teens and the elderly were "euthanized" for being non productive. Older teens and
adults were sterilized. They were put into labor camps where any disobedience would result
in culling.
The stolen children were also subject to culling if they showed any tendencies towards their
old way of life. They were kept in their own genetic breeding pool, eventually forming the
basis for the Dezgra Caste. As Dezgra Caste they are branded for all to see. They are used
only for servitude to lesser castes and generally treated with hatred and contempt. The
threat of being lowered to Dezgra Caste both keeps other castes in line and improves their
morale since, "at least I'm not one of them."
