Overview:
While plans for the ANH-2A and ANH-1A Annihilator were among those gifted to Arc-Royal
Mechworks by Clan Wolf-in-Exile, there were some designers who were intrigued by the
prospect of improving the model with Gauss Rifles. Intending to make a more durable, harder
hitting version of the ANH-1A, feasibility studies quickly determined that placing Gauss
Rifles and PPC's into the mech was more than possible, with slight structural modifications.
Moreover, the Annihilator's legs were thick enough that with slight modifications,
ammunition feeds to the legs could easily draw up Gauss Rifle rounds without compromising
structural integrity. With this in mind, work began on the ANH-2KH - a design that would
merge much of the capabilities of the two designs, while increasing the survivability
considerably.
The ANH-2KH is a direct fire-support platform intended to flat out demolish anything lighter
than it within half a minute. Two arm mounted standard PPC's provide a compromise between
heat, range, and damage, while two Gauss Rifles, one in each torso, propel solid tungsten
shells the size of a melon at near hypersonic speeds, sheering away almost a full ton of
armor with each impact. Four medium pulse lasers tear away anything attempting to get within
the minimum range of this mech, concentrated in the torsos as a space saving measure.
Fifteen and a half tons of standard armor on a standard frame protect the mech, which has a
top cruising speed of only 33 km/h, a low top speed only justified by the sheer amount of
firepower that can be brought to bear on a target. Fourteen double heat sinks can be
overwhelmed by a desperate or inexperienced pilot, but mechwarriors with good target
selection and fire group management can easily handle this limitation.
The 'primitive' design has also proven popular among Clan Wolf-in-Exile forces assigned to
defend industrial facilities, to the point a completely new, clantech based and somewhat
differently configured model is also in production.
