The Albertan Fusiliers, or Oilers, come from a region of the Draconis March called the Federated Maple leafs, or Fed Leafs within the Federated Suns. The Fed Leafs are comprised of 8 worlds: British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. Named for the major Canadian Provinces of Terra, the Fed Leafs are ruled by House McDavid and inhabited by descendants of colonists from the Terran nation of Canada. The world of the Fed Leafs are highly industrialized and even contain limited 'mech factories on Alberta and Ontario, with 'mech repair and support facilities on every world in the Fed Leafs. Despite the Fed Leafs territory being in the Draconis March, it rarely sees direct combat or raids as it is on the interior edge of the March. The Oilers are an elite regiment sized unit that is broken into flexible "lines" rather than lances, and do not have any set 'mechs or roles. The Oilers often operate as an irregular force, with lines being loaned to other combat units such as the Kestrel Lancers or Capellan March Militia. The Planet of Alberta is the main base of operations for the Oilers and the 'mech factory on Alberta keeps them supplied with a variety of mechs. The Oilers were formed immediately after the fall of the Star League and have seen triumph and tragedy throughout the Succession Wars. The Oilers were formed as a morale unit, with most if not all of the original mechwarriors being ex-hockey players in the ISHL (Inner Sphere Hockey League). The Oilers won 4 Cameron Cups in the ISHL and had an extremely violent rivalry with the Luthien Panthers and Sian Flames. In the current era the Oilers are used as an elite shock and awe force but rarely is the regiment deployed as a unified force. Currently the command lance or "1st Line" is under the Kestrel Lancers Command with the remaining lines assigned to covert operations or simple garrison duty.
