Overview:
    Wells technologies long regretted its bizarre decision to license the CGR-1A9 to  Raveena
    Electronics in the former Outworld's Alliance.  The long drawn out legal war even outlived
    Wells Technologies itself, only being finally settled in 3079 when Luthien Armor Works
    abandoned it's final appeal, deciding that the battle for the outdated Wells 990 Chassis was
    no longer a prize worth waging a war over.
    
    Since then the CGR-1A9 has continued a long, if limited, series run in the Periphery by
    becoming the default assault chassis of the Alliance Military Corps. (As an aside, due to
    the AMC's penchant for employing lesser tier 'mercenaries' for garrison duty led to several
    models winding up in questionable hands).  However, following the Republic of the Sphere's
    destabilization and collapse, the Raven Alliance deemed the CGR-1A9 wholly inadequate
    against most Inner Sphere designs of the day, and comically obsolete versus Clan Tech of
    even 4 decades prior.
    
    This lead to a radical, if very expensive, redesign.

Capabilities:
    The RASC model of the CGR-1A9 is an effective, if supremely expensive, redesign for the old
    Wells 990 chassis.  Lacking licensing rights for both a better power plant than the old
    Pitban 320 and facilities to upgrade the Original Star League era chassis, Clan Snow Raven's
    science caste did what it could working hand in hand with Reveena Electronics to wring the
    most of what they could out of the ancient design.
    
    While MASC was considered, Raveena Electronics instead settled for tuning the old fusion
    plant by dropping a 2.5 ton Super Charger into it.  This would at least allow the old frame
    to maneuver at speed.  This minimized the impact of the 1A9's default 64kph so it could work
    side by side with Clan Snow Raven's traditional forces.
    
    Also, not employing MASC allowed the replacement of the design's traditional myomer with
    Ares-Bergen Industrial triple strength myomer. This means, when operating at proper temp,
    the CGR-1A9 RASC can hit speeds in excess of 100kph for short periods of time.
    
    This is proved doubly important because while this model maintains the original CGR-1A9's
    traditional range fighting options, it now mounts a hefty mix heavy and ER medium lasers
    that can humble lighter equipment too slow to understand what exactly they're facing.

Deployment:
    Due to the expense, only 35 examples of the CGR-1A9 RASC have been fully remodeled.  Add to
    this, many Clan warriors, especially older Trueborn warriors, view the ancient power plant
    and long derided chassis as insulting.  However, the tide is changing.  Freebirth Snow Raven
    warriors in particular love the design, especially since the stigma of physical melee combat
    between Mechs seems to be dying out.  In fact, these warriors have insisted in only one
    alteration to ancient chassis, a second fully articulated hand.
