Overview:
In the wake of the Federated Commonwealth Civil War, House Davion is racing to reinforce its
embattled forces. The War taught many lessons to the Federated Sun high command among them
the weakness of the Extra-Light Fusion engine widely used among frontline units. Under the
request of House Reagent Herself, General Motors on Kathil was to convert its GM 285 XL
engine line to produce Light engines based on captured technologies. Faced with a choice of
rejecting a request from the Reagent Herself and face public scrutiny or to redesign there
Nightstar battlemech line, GM chose to redesign the line. Thus only a year after the request
was made, GM released the first prototype powered by the new Light Engine. It has been
    called Ivan.

Capabilities:
Like the mechline it has replaced, the Ivan shares many features in common with another
battlemech. GM acquired copies of Victor blueprints and engineered a heavier chassis that
carries 15 more tons to be used on the line. At the heart of this chassis is a GM 285 Light
fusion engine that allows for more armament like an Extra-Light but without the added
weakness. GM decided to avoid making to many changes on the production line to reduce the
retooling time so like the Nightstar the Ivan does not use Endo-Steel or Ferro-Fibrous in
the chassis and armor construction. This also means that the Ivan uses DHS, a Tek Battlecom,
and the DLK Phased Array Sensor System, which is acclaimed by many as the best targeting
system in the Inner Sphere. Tied to this system is an array of ballistic weapon systems
designed to both be practical and psychologically menacing.

To say that there is a primary weapon on the Ivan would be to misjudge the machine.
In the mech's bulky right arm is a new generation large bore LB 20-X AC supplied by three
tons of ammo protected in CASE. In the mech's left arm is one of the newly developed Rotary
Auto-Cannons Class 5 with a liberal three ton supply of ammunition in an axial mounted
ammunition bay, which allows for an impressive minute and a half of maximum rate fire. Last
but not least is the Gauss cannon mounted on the mech's left breast reminiscent of the
Atlas' AC/20. The Gauss is supplied by an ample two tons of ammunition and is carefully
incased by CASE to prevent the catastrophic destruction of the unit should the Gauss
capacitor suffer a hit. GM, in addition, understood that most pilots are not comfortable
with a Ballistic only layouts incorporated two Extended Range Medium Lasers as auxiliary
weapons should the pilot need them, one in the chest and the other in the head. Satisfied
with the models, GM pushed forward the design and is presently testing the first prototype
as this report is typed. Rumor has it that a second prototype is being produced that
    incorporates TSM.

    Variants:

Rumor has it that the second Prototype is in production that incorporates a TSM
musculature and replaces both the RAC/5 and Gauss. The RAC seems to have been down graded to
the smaller version with 1/3rd the ammo while the Gauss has been upgraded to a Heavy Gauss.
In addition, the ER MLs have been replaced with a single head mounted MPL. Further updates
will be sent as more data becomes available.

Deployment:
The Prototype can be found on Kathil.
