Overview:
    As second Succession war came to end and all sides started to count the losses, Elisabeth
    Stainer realized that Lyran armies need new line mech, that would be available for good
    price and built from available parts to ensure reliability and easy repairs. Coventry Metal
    works responded to the specifications given by archon herself with completely serviceable
    FLF-3S prototype in mere six months and in 2965 first production run was shipped to Lyran
    units.
    
    
    
    The mech never reached the popularity of classic trio, but pilots usually don't complain
    about mech's performance. Even if the Flail is five tons lighter than these mechs, Flail
    shares many parts with them. FLF-3S is child of it's time, pilots give it just average
    marks, but commanders like it because of it's stable performance.

Capabilities:
    Flail is just moderately armed and armored. The emphasis was put on longevity and good close
    range firepower, but as with many mechs, there are overheating problems when all weapons are
    fired together, but pilots can easily manage the heat. The fact that Flail wasn't equipped
    with jump jets somewhat limiting.
    
    
    
    Old GM Whirlwind autocannon was chosen as main armament. The gun was placed in right arm,
    that was left without actuators to ensure all around field of fire. Spacious ammo bin in
    right torso can contain enough ammo for four minutes of constant fire. Longevity not often
    seen on field these days.
    
    
    
    The autocannon is backed by two TharHes 4 SRM packs and two Defiance B3M medium lasers.
    These weapons can easily overwhelm mech's heat sinks as well as other mechs of this class.
    Pilots are usually instructed to fire the SRMs sparingly, because there are only twenty five
    salvos for both launchers.
    
    
    
    Rear area is covered by B3S small laser. While it isn't as powerful as other weapons, it
    covers the range where the autocannon is inaccurate.

Deployment:
    FLF-3S can be seen with all Lyran units, where it performs various roles.
    
    
    
    Michail Sternberg was the only one well known MechWarrior ace known to pilot this mech. He
    came from old noble family that can trace it's roots back to Terra. During 13th attack on
    Hesperus II his lance managed to halt entire Dragoon scout company for fifty minutes.
    Michail destroyed two Stingers and Locust, but then reinforcements arrived and Michail's
    unit was forced to withdraw. Michail found death that day, sacrificing himself while
    covering retreat of his lance mates.
