Overview:
    After the heavy losses of the FedCom Civil War, the AFFS has put considerable effort into
    finding ways of getting effective frontline BattleMechs while reducing costs. At the same
    time, the AFFS must have effective front line 'Mechs now, without waiting. One of the
    programs to create more inexpensive but effective front line 'Mechs was the upgrading of the
    Watchman. The Watchman was originally intended as a milita 'Mech, to fill holes on the
    Combine border as the newest technology went to the Clan front. The new upgrade to the
    Watchman makes it an effective frontline unit with a minimum of cost.

Capabilities:
    The most important upgrade to the Watchman is the replacement of its armor with the lighter
    Ferro Fibrous armor. This new armor frees up enough tonnage for a third medium laser. The
    large laser is replaced with an ER weapon, and double heat sinks are added to cover the
    increased heat generation. The large laser was moved from the left arm to the right to keep
    it from being damaged in the case of an ammuntion explosion.

Deployment:
    The majority of Watchmen in the Federated Suns are being called in to receiver this refit.
