Overview:
The WHM-17 was the standard SLDF Warhammer upgrade.

Capabilities:
The engineers assigned to the Warhammer upgrade project felt that it was best to tinker with
perfection as little as possible. The small lasers and half of a ton of machine gun
ammunition were sacrificed for CASE and an Artemis IV module for the SRM system, and the
Leviathon Plus was upgraded to Grummum Type XII ferro-fibrous armor. Some engineers
advocated removing the machine gun systems and installing additional heat sinks, but the
team eventually decided that the Warhammer would still need an effective anti-personnel
system. An anti-missile system was also considered, again at the expense of the machine
guns. Test results showing the possibility of dangerous heat build up if the Warhammer
engaged it's anti-missile system while using both PPCs disuaded the engineers from going
    ahead with the anti-missile system.

Deployment:
The WHM-17 was a popular upgrade, largely because it left most of the 'mech's major systems
untouched while substantially increasing protection for the 'mech and pilot. Some generals
advocated the installation of double heat sinks, but the number of Warhammers in the SLDF
arsenal made this proposal fiscally impossible, especially as the SLDF was also investing
heavily in new designs such as the Black Knight and Thug.
