Overview:
    With many avenues of trade and procurement cut off by nearly a decade of Ryan Steiner's
    politicking, the ARDC found itself frequently fighting either with older equipment or
    battlefield salvage. The standard Lyran Light Mechs that were available left a lot to be
    desired, especially when facing Clan forces. In the face of such losses, Morgan Kell sought
    out cooperation with Clan Wolf-in-Exile to begin an advanced program for a flagship ARDC
    Light Mech. However, Kell wanted to both keep his options open and pair the yet unrealized
    Light with a more numerous and economical option. For that reason Kell tendered a
    requirement with Arc-Royal Mechworks that eventually became the Invictus Battlemech.

Capabilities:
    The Invictus is a 'Mech that marries excellent firepower, reasonable performance, and solid
    protection in a single cost-effective design. Meant to be competitive with Clan Lights like
    the Cougar, flexible MML racks were chosen allow for a decisive short-range punch without
    sacrificing long-range capability.
    
    A GM 210 Light Engine let's the Invictus move up to 97.2 Kph, and frees up additional
    tonnage without creating the fragility common of most XL Engines. That and 6.5 tons of Light
    FF Armor protected by CASE make for a somewhat sturdy design. The Center Torso will stop a
    Gauss Slug or Clan ER PPC without a breach, while every other location besides the head will
    stop an AC-10 shell or PPC.
    
    Offensively, the Invictus is armed with a pair of MML-5s, with a ton of LRM and SRM ammo to
    share between them. Medium and ER Medium Lasers in each arm provide additional firepower,
    made even deadlier by a Targeting Computer. 10 Double Heat Sinks keep the 'Mech cool in all
    but the most extreme situations.

Deployment:
    The Invictus has already begun to impress in its intended role. Many Mechwarriors have
    underestimated the new Mech upon receiving only sporadic missile fire at long distances,
    only to be shredded at short-range by a massive salvo of lasers and SRMs. Its firmly average
    speed means that some Clan machines can outmaneuver it, which Arc-Royal Mechworks will be
    addressing in future variants.

Variants:
    The INV-2S looks to make the 'Mech more mobile while giving it better punch at long range.
    The MML launchers are downgraded to MML-3s, while the lasers and targeting computer are
    replaced in favor of a pair of Light PPCs. MASC takes up the rest of the remaining tonnage.
    While it sacrifices some firepower, the 2S variant has a better long-range damage curve,
    while also being capable of keeping pace with most Light Mechs. More popular with scouts
    than with front-line pilots, it has not yet seen action against Clan 'Mechs.
