Overview:
    A highly effective close-range brawler and urban combatant, the 8D is a return by Kallon
    Industries to the Penetrator design. While retaining its ?flashbulb? weapons styling, it has
    specialized away from its generalist roots, and has seen decent success wherever it has been
    sold.

Capabilities:
    An upgrade of the PTR-4D, the 8D removes the AMS, upgrades the engine to an XL version, and
    replaces the standard armor with light ferro-fibrous, adding one and half tons as well. This
    releases enough weight to replace the ER large lasers with re-engineered models, cutting
    through specialist armor easily to let the six unchanged pulse lasers hit their mark. The
    addition of four heat sinks lets three pulse lasers fire alongside both larges at zero heat,
    increasing effectiveness at close quarters.

Variants:
    As the Dark Age spirals on, many variants of the 8D will go unrecorded. However, several
    field refits have occurred commonly enough to receive subvariant designations from Kallon.
    8DC: Covering any refit utilizing Clan-grade technology, this usually manifests as weapons
    and heat sinks. A ?six-cylinder?, equipped with six Clantech medium pulses, is a true terror
    on the battlefield.
    8DR: Dropping two pulse lasers for medium re-engineered lasers, this model loses damage but
    gains range and better ability against specialist armors.
