Overview:
Iconic vehicle of Imperial military forces, upgraded by major general Maximilian Veers
project All Terrain Assault Transport was formidable battle machine during the first stage
of Galactic Civil War. This 22.5 meters tall quad-legged machine was able to carry up entire
trooper platoon with two speeder-bikes and provide covering fire on medium-to-long range.
However, AT-AT critically lacked manevuerability for his his impressive speed, and it's main
weapons could by used in terribly narrow frontal sector. While the most common enemy of
imperial military were lightly armed rebel militia mobs, standard line formation of heavy
walkers was nearly undefeatable, and wide arc of fire mostly wasn't needed - but during the
Scarif battle at 0 BBY/ UC 0085, where Zeon mobile suits made their glorius galactic-scale
debute, this decision horribly backfired to AT-AT crews, often outmaneuvered by much agile
Zakus, GMs and especcialy Doms. A few months later, after Yavin battle, famous blietzkrieg
of new Rebellion-Zeon alliance had ultimately torn apart former glory of imperial main
battle walker.
Capabilities:
AT-AT main armanement includes Taim-&-Bak Long-range twin laser cannon, hardly fixed in
lower part of walker's "head", and two Taim-&-Bak Rapid-fire blaster cannons, mount in
tertially panoramic "head" sponsons. This weapon combination allows AT-AT to create great
suppresive fire and clean the road for its passengers (from 40 to 75). 11 tons of durasteel
hardened armor provide excellent protection from most blaster weapons. However outer armor
layer has a lot of weak points (mostly head-to-main frame joint and lower engine cooling
system), and lack of turning speed and narrow firing sector make AT-AT vulnerable to even
One-Year War era mobile suits which could easily outmaneuver imperial walker and hit its
critical zones.
