Overview:
    The original MAD-4X was an experimental variant made at Ronin Incorporated's facility on
    Wallis in 3039 under the supervision of engineer Arlo Fenster. Techs removed the standard
    weaponry from a Marauder and replaced the arm mounted weapons with a binary laser cannon in
    each arm, while the torso mounted autocannon was replaced by twin SRM-6 launchers backed by
    one ton of ammunition for each launcher. The Marauder-4X was also noteworthy because it used
    a prototype endo steel chassis.
    
    This custom variant, dubbed the MAD-4xr (for "refit") was created by the mechtechs working
    for the Knights of Canopus, a long-standing mercenary company, who acquired a Marauder 4X
    while working for the Free World's League. The circumstances of this acquisition are unclear
    and may or may not be related to the company's subsequent dismissal.
    
    Years later, the commander of the Knights of Canopus tasked his engineers with updating the
    ancient Marauder using modern technologies, resulting in the MAD-4Xr (and its several
    variants).

Capabilities:
    The Marauder MAD-4Xr-1 simply updates the technology while remaining true to the original
    design. In addition to an endo steel chassis, it adds an XL engine and gyro and uses the
    saved tonnage to increase the number of heat sinks and upgrade them to doubles strength
    versions and and add a little more armor.
    
    The Marauder MAD-4Xr-1 has the following Design Quirks: Combat Computer, Command Mech,
    Cramped Cockpit, Difficult to Maintain, Hyper-Extending Actuators, Improved Cooling Jacket
    (Blazer Cannons), Narrow/Low Profile, No Ejection System.

Variants:
    The MAD-4Xr-2 is a somewhat more tactical variant that trades the SRM-6s for LRM-5s,
    allowing the mech to act as a long-range bombardment platform while closing into range of
    its binary laser cannons.
