Overview:
Conceived by a regime known simply as the State on the resource-rich Deep Periphery world of
Kalyxa-5, the Juggernaut Light Combat Vehicle JLCV-35 is a 35-ton tracked combat vehicle
built entirely using standard Inner Sphere technology. Because it used standard Inner Sphere
technology, the vehicle was easier to maintain and repair in systems with lower
technological sophistication. Its entire weapons package is mounted in a fully rotating
turret. An LRM-10 provides long-range firepower and serves as a deterrent against VTOLs. An
SRM-4 gives the vehicle respectable close-range punch, while a Machine Gun provides reliable
infantry suppression.
Power comes from a rugged 105-rated internal combustion engine, limiting the vehicle to a
maximum speed of 54 km/h. Speed was accepted as the design’s principal weakness. In
exchange, the JLCV-35 carries 9.5 tons of standard armor. The inclusion of CASE was
considered a necessary expense by the State, whose design doctrine treated vehicle crews as
assets worth preserving. This emphasis on armor and survivability, combined with the
vehicle’s slow speed, led crews to adopt the nickname “Pocket-Assault,” reflecting the
vehicle’s reputation for being tougher than its weight class suggested.
A small half-ton internal cargo allowance is fitted with reclining crew seats, limited
personal stowage, and a compact shared commode. This permits the three-person crew to remain
deployed on high alert for extended periods, sleeping in shifts while ensuring that one
operator keeps the weapon systems and communications active at all times.
Deployment:
The JLCV-35 was supplied to budget-conscious planetary governments, frontier militias, and
cash-strapped mercenary commands that valued its affordable price, common technology, and
ease of repair. It is too slow for rapid maneuver warfare, but performs well as a defensive
anchor and as a means of establishing a visible military presence.
The Pocket-Assault became one of Kalyxa-5’s better-known export models. Crews praised its
reliability and protection, while commanders regarded it as a dependable workhorse: tough,
adequate, and wholly unremarkable.
