Variants:
    The original Rifleman prototype, the RFL-0X, was a far different machine than the modern
    Rifleman, but you can see the design aspects that would lead to the machine seen on the
    battlefields of the Succession Wars and later conflicts. Massing only 50 tons and using
    primitive components, this machine could only make a top speed of some 54 kph, and was even
    less heavily armored than its later counterparts. Additionally, it was armed with only two
    weapons, but these weapons were what would give the design its name. Each Heavy Rifle was
    arm mounted, and fed by a two ton ammunition bin in the adjacent torso section. Although
    this only provided two minutes of continual firepower, this was sufficient for an anti-air
    role, which would typically have lances of this machine accompanied by a supply vehicle.
    
    Later developments would lead to the design being fitted with energy weapons, more effective
    autocannons, fusion cores that generates greater speeds and heavier armor. But none of this
    would have been possible without the experimental RFL-0X, and the pioneering strides it
    first took into a new battlefield.
