Overview:
    The merging of the Lyran Commonwealth and Federated suns saw the proliferation of the
    formerly Lyran exclusive Commando mech throughout the Inner sphere and beyond.
    
    Even after several centuries there remains a small but devoted group of mechwarriors who
    still hold a personal preference for Commando variants equipped with Large lasers.
    
    The two Commando pilots of the Outback Mercenary unit were among this group of devotees, and
    modified their mechs accordingly.

Capabilities:
    A Mercenary refit of the Lyran Commando mech, the COM-1D1 mech is a major overhaul of the
    old Commando 1D variant.
    
    This variant has dropped the SRM6 launcher and moved the large laser into the center torso.
    This reduces the laser's field of fire, but ensures the weapon is far more protected.
    
    As a single backup weapon, the Mercs have mounted a prototype Rocket Launcher 10 in the
    right arm for a one shot punch. The Mercs discovered a few poorer end planetary militias
    were still making use of the one shot weapons out in the Davion Outback region. Easy to
    produce and maintain locally, the Outback Mercs have fallen in love with the primitive level
    weapons.
    
    The more extensive alteration was swapping out the original engine for a larger Magna 175
    Grade acquired from Hespereus II and their production line of the Light Hunter Tank.
    The COM 1D1 is able to reach speeds of up to 110 km, allowing it to outrun just about
    anything it can't outgun.
    
    The COM-1D1 is an excellent scout hunter and light Striker.
