Overview:
    The Assassin ASN-31R is a dedicated recon variant of the Assassin Battlemech.

Capabilities:
    The original missile launches have been stripped from the mech and replaced with two
    prototype 10-tube Rocket Launchers.
    They are primarily meant to discourage pursuit as the ASN-31 is not intended for frontline
    combat.
    
    With the saved weight, the ASN-31 mounts two additional tons of communication equipment,
    normally reserved for heavier command units. This gives it exceptional communications and
    control capabilities, although it falls short of the old Star League ECM and BAP technology.
    
    Additional armour protects this mech and its valuable communications equipment.
    
    Finally, the mercs made several attempts to reroute the cooling systems to alleviate the
    cramped cockpit but their efforts ended about as successfully as Maltex corps own attempts.
    
    In a somewhat controversial move the mercs instead decided to go with a different route. The
    mechs' ejection system has been removed entirely and the freed space used to alter the
    pilot's seating pod. Both leg and elbow room are increased, as well as postural support,
    although thd mech is still only suitable for pilots of physically shorter stature.
    
    The reconnaissance nature of the mech means direct engagement is not a priority, so the loss
    of the ejection system is considered a worthwhile trade for the drastic increase in comfort.

Deployment:
    As a reconnaissance unit, the ASN-31 operates in a Command role of a scout lance.
    
    This particular mech is typically accompanied by a pair of modified WASP-1AR mechs. Able to
    outrun most opponents, the trio of mechs excel at gathering intel from behind enemy lines.
