The standard PPC´s look a bit outdated here but the fact that their lower heatoutput gives the DVS the ability to deliver their damage without ever to worry about heat makes them an advantage. Combined with the deadly firepower of two gauss rifles no opponent will close without paying dearly for it. Even up close the lasers deliver a solid point defense. The XL engine is a bit problematic but is covered by lots of armor so don´t be worried too much. |

This is one of the best Inner Sphere designs in my opinion, even in its stock configuration. My own personal variant drops 4 heat sinks (after all, you only really need to fire just the PPCs and Gauss rifles 95% of the time; the medium lasers are just back up weapons), adds an endo steel internal structure, and swaps the XL engine for a less vulnerable Light engine.
Overall the Devastator is as close a match to the clan mechs as the Inner Sphere can hope for. |

Other than the xl engine this thing is a beast. dual guass+dual ppc will tear any mech to pieces. if the enemy machine can even get close to the dvs the three forward med. lzrs will take care of whats left of the enemy. add to it the large amount of armour and this mech has a great deal of staying power. |

Probably my favorite Assault mech of all time. The Best looks and just amazingly deadly. Though I would like more ammo for it its not bad. I like the fact that if your in a really nasty firefight and take a engine hit you can still keep up a withering barrage. Heck even with 2 engine hits you can still put a hurtin' on someone. |

This a meat grinder. The dual PPC ,even when non ER, and dual Gauss combination is just deadly anywhere. Thus allowing the Devastator to do ever more damage than the Thunderhawk. Plus its not entirely helpless if its out of ammo.
The ammo will hold out for a while but if given the chance i will drop 2 DHS for another 2 tons of ammo for the gauss. This will make the mech much more viable in your slightly longer than average campaign.
Overall a great IS beatstick to hit someone with it, IF you can afford the design. :)
