By far not as good as the Archer. Full fifteen tons heavier, but still not packing that much armour or any really effective secondary weapons. The Longbow is still an effective long range bombardment unit, even a little better thanks to those small LRM launchers, but it must absolutely avoid getting in close combat unless it can quickly end it with a well placed kick. Small LRMs would be more useful with special ammo, but the 'mech can easily work without any. I'm not happy with LRM ammo placed in CT, which may mean an early end for this machine, which further worsens the fragility comming with lighter armour. Firing the LRMs at long range is on the other hand made in to a risky tactic by limited ammo for the big LRM racks, so be careful.

A heavy missile platform with lots of firepower but the problems of most of its kind: weak armor and no short range weapons (OK: it has a can-opener!) but as long as you put it to a relativly safe position that wouldn´t be much of a problem.
It has enough heatsinks to fire its main weapons while walking and occasionaly can add the LRM-5´s without too much heat.
I would reduce the LRM-5 ammo to get another 3 shots of LRM-20 ammo per launcher and drop the small laser for some armor.

I fully agree with mud on this one. It looks awesome! Like the missile version of the Rifleman (which you know I love).
Now, seen in the context of 3025 (where it fully belongs - this was first designed in StarDate in the '80s! Also appeared in Sorenson's Sabres before the lvl2 era) this is one of the best fire-support 'mechs. It carries the same ammo load as the archer, but fires 10 more missiles. It overheats just like the archer and has less close-range protection. And weaker armour.
But, and this I know from the receiving end, if this stands behind the enemy lines and fires at you, your day is going to be miserable. If this is used alone (duel-type), it WILL go down.... Once again: true (and truly effective) fire-support.

I have mixed feelings about this 'mech. Those massive barrel mounted LRM launchers in the arms look badass as hell (I remember the picture in the old Battleforce book showing one of these stepping on a vanquished Crusader), but I generally think the Archer is better rounded.

I actually had someone use this against me, a very painful experience.
Granted the IS LRMS have the minimum range on them, but living through 50 LRMs to get there is easier said than done. If someone finds a way to slap some Artemis systems on the missiles, this thing could be an absolute bitch to fight against.
If I had to, Id use either Endo Steel or FF armor to free up some space, add in the Artemis and some CASE. If I could, Id put some medium lasers on it, either ER or pulse.
As is, though, this is one tough nut to crack, as missile boats go. If you can, get a lance of these, park em some place relatively safe, and blast some poor bastard to scrap.
