Overview:
    Description:
    
    Designed right after the Stinger LAM proved the Land-Air 'Mech concept, the aerodynamic Wasp
    chassis also seemed to promise a successful conversion. However, weapon accuracy was
    severely hampered on initial prototypes and only after the Harvard Company hired Katherine
    Piscalla was a successful Wasp LAM actually produced.[2]
    
    The Wasp LAM is able to convert from BattleMech to aerospace fighter faster than any other
    Land-Air 'Mech[2], and also mounts no lostech, save for the conversion equipment. The ease
    of use and ability to drop bombs from bomb bays made the Wasp LAM especially successful in
    air-to-ground strikes, no matter where that ground may be. During its first operation, Wasp
    LAMs were tasked with destroying a nuclear weapons facility orbiting within the Terran Oort
    Cloud in 2690. Generations of SLDF ground soldiers loved the Wasp LAM so much, they bestowed
    upon it the moniker "angels on our shoulders".[3]
    
    The Capellan Confederation has several Wasp LAM variants that are original prototypes, built
    before the first successful prototype designed by Dr. Piscalla. All variants not only have
    difficulty converting, but are also prone to glitches with their targeting and tracking
    systems.[4]
    
    The Wasp LAM was a highly sought-after prize, and a jealously guarded commodity when most of
    the Wasp LAM production facilities were destroyed shortly after the start of the First
    Succession War.[2] By the thirty-first century, the Wasp LAM was an exceedingly rare sight
    within the Inner Sphere.[3]

    The Wasp LAM is similar to the Stinger LAM, maintaining the same ground and air speed. The
    only real difference is in the armament - the Wasp LAM is armed with a Series 6A Emerald
    Deathstare Heavy Medium Laser and a Ceres Stalking Cougar Harpoon Streak LRM-5.[2]

    WSP-100 Wasp LAM Mk I
    This variant, used by the SLDF, has an LTV 150 engine, slightly lower maximum ground speed
    at 84 km/h, a 120 meter jump capability, and replaces the SRM-2 with a rear-facing One-Shot
    version. In exchange the WSP-100 was equipped with a five ton bomb bay, which allowed the
    WSP-100 to carry Arrow IV missiles and conventional bombs without losing any speed.[4] BV

    WSP-100b
    This variant was designed for the SLDF's "Blackhearts" teams.[4] Based on the standard
    WSP-100, it replaced the medium laser and bomb bay with an extra jump jet, medium pulse
    laser, Streak SRM-2, and Guardian ECM suite. The armor protection was also increased
    slightly. BV (2.0) = ????[5]
    
    WSP-100A
    This version of the Wasp LAM replaces the bomb bay with an LRM-10 launcher and an extra jump
    jet. This variant was later used as the inspiration for the Valkyrie.[4] BV (2.0) = ????[6]
    
    WSP-105M
    This variant of the "standard" WSP-105 replaced the SRM-2 and one single heat sink with a
    single LRM-5. BV (2.0) = ????[7]
    
    WSP-110
    This Jihad-era variant appears to be a testbed used by the Word of Blake. Its performance is
    identical to the WSP-100 and it retains the bomb bay, but it is built on a composite
    internal structure. It's also equipped with double heat sinks and a medium variable speed
    pulse laser. The One-Shot SRM-2 missile launcher has been removed. BV (2.0) = ????[8]

    History
    Sharon Dorsee is one of the rare few who achieved Ace status both as an Aerospace Pilot (8
    kills) and as a MechWarrior (over 13 kills). In 3024 she was stationed on Caph - likely
    alongside Mandrake Matherson with the all-LAM Special Air Lance of the Twelfth Dieron
    Regulars. On a mission on Capra both she and her LAM were severely injured in an engagement
    with a Federated Suns Warhammer. Both required nearly a year's worth of healing and repairs,
    and returned to active duty with the Pesht Regulars just prior to June 3025.[1][2]

    Sharon Dorsee engaged a Wolverine on the planet Lyran Commonwealth planet of Delos VI
    somewhere along the Combine border. This also occurred nearly a year after the engagement
    with the Warhammer, but Dorsee had just been assigned to the Fourth Proserpina Hussars.
    Missile damage, whether from the Warhammer or more recently, prevented Dorsee from entering
    Aerospace mode.[3]

    Tai-i Mandrake Matherson a member of the Special Air Lance, composed of four LAMs, of the
    Twelfth Dieron Regulars stationed on Capra in the closing years of the Third Succession War.
    Proving to be an able warrior in several major engagements led to his promotion to command
    the Lance. While only a mediocre aerospace pilot, his abilities in AirMech mode were almost
    peerless. In the 3025 Battle of Galtor he located a cache of Star League armor in the
    warehouse. While this cache was only standard armor, it did allow Matherson to restore his
    WSP-105 to the original WSP-100 appearance. Combine propaganda meanwhile insinuated that it
    was recovered Ferro-Aluminum Armor that was undergoing tested for wider deployment. He was
    killed during the fighting in the War of 3039.[2][1]

    Matherson piloted a WSP-105 Wasp LAM that was customized to resemble the WSP-100 as well as
    minor unknown weapon modifications.[2][1] His 'Mech was also refitted with armor plating
    from a Star League bunker on Galtor that was stronger and more effective.[2]
