Overview:
    The Sting Jet was designed to be Arctic Silence's (AS) dedicated long-range fire-support
    'Mech. The ST-JT-2A was one of the first 'Mechs designed and produced solely by AS in the
    sub-terranean factories of their icy moon, Págos. Armed enough LRM launchers to fire a
    volley of 60 individual missiles each round, the 85 Sting Jet has been valued as better
    alternative to the 95 ton Naginata in every way - the Sting Jet has more armour, more
    firepower and better mobilty - despite costing only 75% of the Naginata's 12.5 million
    C-Bill pricetag.
    
    The 'Mech was named after a rare weather phenomenon which occurs in Terran extra-tropical
    cyclones, where the cloud in the tail of the storm collapses, sending ice crystals and the
    accompanying air plummeting downwards. The winds inside a so-called "Sting Jet" can reach
    speeds of up to 150 miles per hour before crashing into the ground, flattening thousands of
    square kilometres of forest and killing anyone unfortunate enough to be caught out in the
    open.

Capabilities:
    The Sting Jet ST-JT-2A carries a huge number of LRM racks as its primary weapons: four LRM
    15s. The incredible 60 missile volleys from this 'Mech can be sustained for up to two
    minutes by 6 tons of CASE II protected ammo. You won't want to close with this 'Mech without
    exercising caution though - for self-defence the Sting Jet has 4 ER Medium Lasers (2 in each
    arm) and 2 rear-mounted ER Small Lasers positioned in each side torso to help with pesky
    light 'Mechs trying to drill through the thinner rear armour. To free up weight for these
    weapons an Endo Steel Skeleton was used.
    
    Despite this staggaring quantity of weaponry, the ST-JT-2A has a standard Strand 255 Fusion
    engine and the maximum armour possible. To make up for the slightly below average movement
    speed for an 85 ton 'Mech, the Sting Jet's engineers were able to include three jump jets to
    provide a jumping capability of 90 metres!

Deployment:
    The Sting Jet has seen wide usage by Arctic Silence in the decades following its unveiling
    in 3086, and the few that have been sold to Mercenary groups as a cheap assault 'Mech that
    doesn't have to be on the front lines to do damage have changed the tides of many a battle,
    gaining the 'Mech much praise from all who have seen it in combat.
    
    At one point, Arctic Silence was approached by an anonymous representative of one of the
    major military companies of the Lyran Alliance, to see if Arctic Silence would consider
    selling the design to them so that they could also produce the 'Mech from their factories.
    It is almost a shame that Arctic Silence refused point blank, as the Sting Jet could've gone
    on to become a household name across the Inner Sphere.

Variants:
    Two years after the first ST-JT-2As rolled of the production lines of Págos, a variant
    designed to work as part of a co-ordinated C3 lance was produced, featuring a C3i Computer
    in exchange for losing one double heat sink and 1.5 tons of armour, reducing its total
    protection to that of the Naginata.

Notable MechWarriors:
    A veteran Arctic Silence pilot has been at the helm of a Sting Jet in more than 50 battles,
    fighting mostly on contracted missions. His familiarity with the 'Mech makes the 'Mech
    impact on the battlefield that much more devastating.
    
    As with all of Arctic Silence's 'Mechs, the Sting Jet has been given a "Baptism of Fire" by
    Alisa Wolfstein in its debut battle, where she pushes the capabilites of every 'Mech to the
    absolute limit to assess how much of Arctic Silence's resources should be directed into
    producing the unit.
