Overview:
Originally made by the New Earth Trading Company, the CKD-1A Crackdown is a very common
SecurityMech that can be found deployed across the Inner Sphere and Periphery and is
manufactured by a smorgasbord of corporations.
Capabilities:
The 25-ton Crackdown is built on a New Earth 25Sec Industrial chassis, as is standard for
SecurityMechs. It is powered by a Magna 100 ICE and protected by 3 tons of Durallex Light
Industrial armor. This slots it into an ambusher role, though in practice it is more
commonly seen dealing with ramshackle pirates that don't have the effective means to combat
it. Other systems include a Basix 150 comms system, an Angst Accuracy targeting/tracking
system, 2 heat sinks to handle its energy weaponry, and an ejection seat for the pilot in
case of catastrophic damage.
The CKD-1A's armament is simple: A pair of Diverse Optics Type 15 Medium Lasers handle
armored targets, while two Gatling Gun 20mm Machine Guns are used to deal with threats on
foot or in the lightest armor. The machine guns are provided with one ton of ammunition,
while the Medium Lasers use a half-ton power amplifier to fire. This loadout allows it
versatility when dealing with common incidents, though it is still inadequate for actual
military action.
The Crackdown is also designed to be as cheap & easy to maintain as possible, as well as
easy to use; however, this necessitated sacrifices elsewhere such as exposing the actuators,
a targeting calibration that is poor at long ranges, and a cooling system implementation
that can become ineffective if damaged.
