Overview:
    In a ridiculous stroke of luck, Xander acquired a vintage Zeus in an auction for the cost of
    the scrap metal and brought the old war horse back to his facility, then promptly forgot
    about it amongst the growing collection of derelict machines in the boneyard.  Two years
    later, while scavenging parts, he stopped in front of the assault mech, and stared at it for
    a little while, then he had it moved into an active bay, and got started. Like most early
    assault designs, the Zeus was slow, and heavily ammo dependent. Xander wanted to make it
    faster, less reliant on resupply, and give her more punch at longer ranges.

Capabilities:
    Starting with a 320 XL powerplant, the upgraded Zeus has a top speed of 86 kph. Xander
    considered mounting jump jets to increase mobility, but decided on ground speed to make the
    long range weapons as stable as possible. An XL gyro was used for further weight reduction,
    and the new Zeus in clad in 14.5 tons of light ferro fibrous armor. The offensive punch
    begins with a Poland model A gauss rifle mounted in the mech's left torso. Three tons of
    ammo keep the cannon supplied even during extended engagements. Completely redesigned arms
    hold the remainder of the Zeus's weaponry, with a pair of light PPCs in the right, and a
    trio of Extended range medium lasers in the left. All weapons are tied to a second
    generation targeting computer, and 14 double capacity heat sinks keep the machine mostly
    cool.

Deployment:
    The prototype Zeus-X was sold to the newly promoted commander of a battalion in the
    Northwind Highlanders. Apparently, the mech made such an impression that the Highlanders
    purchased three more older Zeus, and shipped them to Xander for retrofit. Time will tell if
    any manufacturer decides to do a production run of this design.
