Overview:
The Drachen was developed as a multi-role counterpart to the slightly lighter Myrmidon
medium tank, but with a equally inexpensive price tag, making it a good option for planetary
militias and garrisons, as well as mercenary units.
Capabilities:
The Drachen’s firepower is based around a dual-purpose autocannon; the extremely popular
LB 10X, which can hit as hard as the Myrmidon’s particle cannon and at similar ranges. As
this cannon has the ability to fire cluster rounds, there was little need to include a
short-range missile rack to exploit armor breaches in its targets, so the engineers back the
cannon with a pair of machine guns for anti-infantry duty instead. 9.5 tons of standard
armor provide effective defense to each tank from all angles, and its fuel cell engine
allows it to keep pace with the Myrmidon on the battlefield.
Deployment:
Since being introduced, the Drachen’s production has been expanded at several Defiance
Industries locations, and it is quickly becoming a common sight in many Lyran units and with
several Lyran-affiliated mercenary forces.
