Overview:
    Another field refit by the remnants of the 5th North Star Free Company performed on Utrecht,
    this Scorpion SCP-1N frame was purchased from the KungsArmé elements on the planet along
    with a CoreTek 275 engine. While this leaves the mech slower than the original model, it
    also allowed the technicians to install a Gauss Rifle salvaged from the scout lance's
    Hollander, along with 4 tons of ammo, and a single Medium Laser pulled from their stocks of
    reserve parts.  A Guardian ECM recovered from the field was also added to the Fat Tail,
    though a half ton of armor was sacrificed to make this work, bringing the total to 6.5 tons
    of standard armor.  While vulnerable up close, MechWarrior David Benedict used it to great
    effect as a sniper platform for Lieutenant Nambu's remnant lance until the completion of
    their mission against the Ghost Bears.

Capabilities:
    The SCP-1G Fat Tail is a Quad 'Mech, with all of the advantages and drawbacks that entails.
    It is Hard to Pilot, much like the SCP-1N upon which it is based, and thus retains its Bad
    Reputation.  However, the upgraded weapons package allows it to make use of the unique
    strengths of its four-legged design, allowing it to fit a Poland Main Model A Gauss Rifle,
    with double the magazine depth of a Hollander, into a visually obscured, hull-down position,
    hidden from sensors by an Apple Churchill Golden Shield Guardian ECM system.  One Magna Mark
    II Medium Laser provides close in self-defense capabilities, though whether MechWarrior
    Benedict would prefer the flexibility of his Hollander's arms and legs in that situation is
    unknown at this point.  Existing reports were unable to confirm whether the engine heat
    sinking capabilities are at single or double spec, though there is no compelling reason for
    the latter unless the only available 275 engine was built to DHS spec.

Deployment:
    The Fat Tail generated less publicity than the Rook, so it is unclear if this design has a
    future within the North Star Forces, whether in the Free Army mercenary forces, the Guard
    Regiment, or forces seconded to their League Regiment.  It appears to have been an effective
    sniper platform, but the SCP-1G, much like the SCP-1N it is derived from is a flawed
    platform, and limits the capabilities of the platform.  However, this may allow them to
    field a capable, if inflexible, sniper platform as an alternative to the Hollander.

Variants:
    As of 3057, no new variants have been officially disclosed, and no meaningful information
    acquired via clandestine means has been disclosed. Were it to become a standardized refit,
    as the -1G designation suggests, it will likely drop the medium laser in favor of adding
    CASE and restoring the armor to 7 tons.  That the technicians opted for the laser suggests
    that cellular storage was in short supply among the unit and KungsArmé alike.
    
    The design, however, would benefit greatly in its intended role from jump jets, though such
    an upgrade would require the sacrifice of either half of the ammunition, a third of the
    remaining armor, or some combination of both, without the adoption of weight saving
    technologies.
