Overview:
After the discovery of the Helm Memory Core, the Lyran Commonwealth would seek to apply its
rediscovered technologies to many of its military platforms. The venerable Hardshot was one
of the first to be turned to, and its overhaul by TharHes would be completed in 3038.
The designers sought to stay true to the original 1C's design philosophy while introducing
some improvements, namely improving the main cannon's ammunition stores and making it more
versatile. They also sought to increase the accuracy of its missile launcher. After debate,
the former LosTech to be used for this endeavour would be decided upon, and the Hardshot 2C
was the end product.
The tank would see the bulk of its notable service during the Clan Invasion, its utility
being paramount as it provided usefulness in countering the unknown designs deployed by the
Clanners. The service record from this campaign alone secured the Hardshot's place in the
Lyran military for decades to come.
Capabilities:
The primary armament of the HDS-2C is a Mydron Excel LB-10-X Autocannon with eight tons of
ammunition, which is typically split 50/50 between standard and cluster rounds for
versatility. For secondary and indirect fire at long ranges, a Coventry 5-Shot LRM-5 with
Artemis IV FCS and 4 tons of ammunition is installed on the left side of the turret body.
The Scatter Gun Light Machine Gun and its 4 tons of drum-stored ammo is carried over from
the 1C, as no improvements were deemed necessary for the anti-infantry package.
