Overview:
    The last of the "4" series Quasimodo's developed by the partnership between Tecnicron and
    Kali Yama the QSM-4MX would never make it out of the prototype stage. The QSM-4MX was
    intended to introduce an alternate version and potentially upgraded variant of the QSM-3D.
    Sadly the primary weapon choice forced the design team to make cuts elsewhere in the design.
    Sporting 3 Snub-Nose PPC's in its "hunch" the 4MX displayed a fearsome weapons package.
    However, the added tonnage cost the mech its blue-field particle generator while all of its
    secondary weapons would be swapped out for 3 clan er-small lasers. To make up for the loss
    of its advanced defensive technology the design team for the QSM-4MX would opt to utilize
    advanced (and expensive) reflective armor. While superb against energy weapons reflective
    armors vulnerability against ballistic weapons and melee combat was well documented by the
    time of the IlClan era. This didn't necessarily mesh well with what the 4MX's intended role
    was to be, that of a close in skirmisher/brawler. Additionally, the use of the reflective
    armor consumed the space needed to install TSM, although this wasn't considered a critical
    issue, as on paper the 4MX would have engaged enemies with some range and not run up for
    melee. While the design team would continue to tinker with the design even bringing on
    members from the 4J and 4G teams as those projects wrapped up, confidence in the QSM-4MX's
    ability to perform its job would continue to be shaky.
    
    Ultimately although the 4MX made it to the final qualifying processes for production the
    decision was made to cancel the program. 8 of the 16 prototypes would be put into storage (4
    with Technicron and 4 with Kali-Yama) while the other 8 eight would be sold off to various
    mercenary outfits. This would mark the contractual end of the partnership between Technicron
    and Kali-Yama and although it had ended on a somewhat sour note the partnership had produced
    3 new mech variants (HBK-7P, QSM-4J, QSM?4G) approved for full production that the companies
    could look upon with pride.
