Overview:
    The Zagreus is D&K Creation Studios' very own first home grown omnimech. It is designed
    along the same principals as the Gun in being a relatively inexpensive, easy to maintain
    garrison 'mech that can work well in a variety of roles, but this time in a bipedal humanoid
    form.

Capabilities:
    The Zagreus "Lysander" is the custom configuration for a mercenary working under the "Wright
    Ways to Die" company named Irinan Ghislon, tacname "Lysander". It was created when the
    company was contracted out to assassinate a high value target of some local renown for the
    Ramgarh system known only by their codename of "King Lear", who was a problematic known
    pirate for the system that was slowly gaining in notoriety. Irinan was part of an ambush
    lance and thus tailored their 'mech to best work in that role, mounting Angel ECM, a snub
    nose PPC with a capacitor for its main weapon, with a medium re-engineered laser for any
    targets in the operation that were somehow mounting more advanced armor, an extended range
    small laser to compliment its weapon load in knife fighting ranges, and a small x-pulse
    laser for any infantry elements they came up against. Furthermore the chassis mounted a
    targeting computer to allow for accurate fire across all of its weaponry.

Deployment:
    The contract called for the mercenary company, with information from some black market
    sources of overheard snippets of plans from members of "King Lear's" crew, to act in two
    parts. One was for a lance of 'mechs to act as 'clueless' garrison 'mechs on planet on the
    days of the expected raid to goad the targets and wear them down before trying to get the
    pirates closer to a pre-prepared kill zone and to keep the fight going for as long as
    possible to make certain that "King Lear" was deployed in the raiding lances as well as to
    protect the interests of the Ramgarh system barring a successful assassination, while the
    lance that Irinan was to be a part of were to await near the kill-zone with engines at the
    absolute minimum of running to await the order of either the ambush to proceed as planned,
    or to make their way to wherever the battle took place should the plan not shake out.
    
    Almost immediately on the day of the raid things turned sour. When the pirate Leopards and
    Union were detected, the expected LZ of close to the warehousing district that the pirates
    were supposed to choose was passed over, instead the Leopards were making 'mech drops close
    to the ambushing 'mechs, marking the battle with an immediately out of position heavy
    defense lance with no targets and an ambush centric lance with a swarm of Pirate 'mechs
    closing rapidly on their location as they franticly tried to get their 'mechs started up all
    the while the Union starting unloading looters and tanks from its hold. The only choice the
    ambushing lance had was to hold out against the many pirate 'mechs, including a hodgepodged
    together Assault frankenmech, of which was King Lear's own personal 'mech closing in on them
    until their help could arrive. While the decently numbered Brigands, Centurions, Phoenix
    Hawks, even a Marauder of some description, as well as the Frankenmech Assault that seemed
    to be made of primarily Banshee and Charger parts were intimidating to the relatively
    smaller group, they knew they had the advantage in their ECM or Stealth Armor systems, and
    thus abused that as heavily as possible to buy seconds as their primary patrol lance came in
    from their scattered positions to rescue them.
    
    Lysander themself, pilot of the lightest 'mech of the ambushers, was unlucky enough to be
    the closest to the primary lance of pirates, suffering swathes of laser and missile fire to
    their hiding spot, of which only a few thankfully hit them in part to their Angel ECM
    finally starting up as their Zagreus roared to life. Lysander, knowing that discretion was
    the better part of valor but also knowing that they had a job to do, made use of the limited
    mobility they had and started goading the enemy mechwarriors into chasing after their
    lighter 'mech as their closest lancemates in the ambushing squadron, a Black Knight 3L and a
    Crab 50 started closing in on their location, firing off a snap shot with their capacitated
    Snub Nose PPC that managed to strip all of the armor off of a Phoenix Hawk before
    repositioning behind one of the many warehouses.
    
    From there it became a running battle for Lysander, as well as the rest of their ambushing
    lancemates, as they traded blows with their pirate foes. While their force of a Black
    Knight, Cataphract, Crab, and Zagreus were well suited in a defensive role thanks to their
    ECM or Stealth Armor, they were still heavily outnumbered until their patrol lance finally
    arrived to help relieve them. Lysander took it upon themself to act as the greatest bait for
    the enemy forces, routinely turning off their Angel ECM system so that they could be far
    more easily detected compared to their buddies, taking some hits in return but setting up
    kill zones for the rest of their lancemates to capitalize on. Of course, by the time they
    did the damage on both sides was noticeable. Of the friendly 'mechs, the Black Knight had
    lost its Right Leg and took a thankfully nonlethal shot to the cockpit, the Cataphract was
    missing both of its arms, Lysander themself was venting heat from their exposed rear after a
    Brigand managed to outflank them and get off a lucky shot, and only the Crab remaining
    relatively untouched. Of course, on the Pirate side of things, they were just as bad off. Of
    their many 'mechs that started the conflict, there was a single Brigand, two Phoenix Hawks
    of which was was the still limping figure that Lysander damaged to start the battle, one
    somewhat damaged at all Centurion that was slowly becoming more and more worn down with
    little penetration damage shown, with the Marauder having had a cockpit caving headshot
    delivered to it by the Black Knight. And of the FrankenAssault, King Lear was barely
    touched, even as it continuously fired its PPCs, lasers and whatever rockets it had left on
    its chassis.
    
    It was lucky, then, that the arrival of the almost untouched patrol lance, after the had
    been delayed by the many pirate tanks and looting teams, started with a bang that sent a
    great feeling of relief through the ambushing lance's bodies. With a screaming crack, a 125
    pound slug of depleted uranium, fired by the patrol leader's Marauder, going far past the
    speed of sound decapitated King Lear. At that moment, the battle between the two sides
    almost stopped as they watched the behemoth machine finally toppled over in almost slow
    motion. That was the moment the tide of the battle changed, as the pirates were caught
    between the two lances, with the only options being either to fight their way back to the
    leopards or to surrender and most likely die.
    
    From there it became a relatively routine clean up mission for both lances with Lysander
    themself tallying up a total of four 'mech kills, a Centurion, the Brigand that damaged
    their engine in retaliation, and two of the Phoenix Hawks of which included the exceedingly
    stubborn one from the start of the battle that they damaged.
    
    It was later confirmed in retrospect from the scattered survivors of the pirate crew that
    the intel the planet and its mercenary defenders were working off of was planted by "King
    Lear" as a way to gain more plunder from the battle, as well as the confirmation of a few
    low level moles in the local industry center and warehousing district that was chosen as a
    target acting as informants after mild bribery was sent their way to confirm where the
    ambushing 'mechs were located. Talks are underway between the local government of Ramgarh
    and the "Wright Ways to Die" mercenary company on a longer term protection contract.
