I have both good and bad memories of the Dire Wolf. This Variant isn't my favorite, but it is devastating. One thing that always stands out in my mind when I see this variant though, is what happened the first time I ever saw one. I was playing only my 4th or 5th BTech game with a group I had joined in Grand Rapids. We played a Mercenary Company, and our Commander piloted a captured Timberwolf D. I was controlling a mixed Heavy/Assault Lance comprised of a 3F Stalker, a Pillager, a Guillotine, and something else I can't remember anymore. For this day's gaming session we sat down and started walking across the map. Next thing we know, around from behind the huge mountain in the middle stalks a Dire Wolf Prime. Around the other side the rest of an Assault Binary of Jade Falcon mechs. Opening round of shooting: Commander lifts his T-Wolf's left arm, BOOM! Headcaps the Dire Wolf. The battle for the Clanners went downhill from there, and our Commander upgraded to a Dire Wolf. Ahh.. fond memories. Because of that this Mech is always special to me. |

An extremely powerful design. The only problem I have with it is that it has a more "sanding" effect than 'mechs like the Atlas. I've had a Daishi with a 0,0 pilot sit down and pound a medium mech for thirty seconds, and get almost nowhere. On the other hand, it has the time.
Really good 'mech. |

Sure it overheats, but that never was an issue. It makes the gameplay more interesting. Still it is devastating and looks great. Emptying out the ammo bins will make it a great brawler in a pinch. |

This mech has too many weapons and not enough heat sinks. The ER large lasers alone are enough to overheat this mech. Sure, this mech looks impressive with its arms full of weapons but unless you want to massively overheat you can't use them all. And if you can't use them that makes them wasted space.
If you want to see the Daishi live up to its potential use the A variant or your own custom model that doesn't have the heat issues. |

probably the most feared mech. the primary has tremendous firepower at all ranges and can destroy lighter mechs with one alpha strike. the armor on this beast is thick so it can wade into the middle of the enemy line and go to work. the one problem with this machine is its heat curve but if u bracket your fire it should not matter |
