Personally I never understood why the Hellbringer has 13 DHSs and rarely uses them in it's configurations. Without the advanced structural components it can afford to take some additional heat sinks and those three extra tons would be handy with the other, more ballistic-heavy, loadouts. The armour on this omni is really weak for it's size, but the design can make up for this with it's weapons in most situations ... if it fights the clans. Against the IS opposition the Hellbringer has to rely on superior speed and range of it's guns because the spheroid troops usually don't stop shooting at you when you kill one of them (no, not even two or three kills can do the trick as long as there is enough of them).
I must agree that the primary configuration is the most dangerous of the three originally published in the old 3050 TRO. It's hard to argue about that with two ER PPCs pointed on you, but the other equipment will find some use on the field as well. The problem with this configuration is that you have to be extremely cautious with heat, because someone forgot to add some heat sinks. The PPCs are going to overheat and slow down the 'Mech even if you keep one of the guns silent every other round and at shorter range it gets even worse. I wonder whether the A-pods were really necessary. This is a walking Swiss army knife, but there are some flaws which were added for no apparent reason. That's a pity. |

The Loki is typical of so many of the official designs where they'd be good with just a few changes. It seems like the designers wanted to show off a lot of fancy clan equipment on one mech, sort of like a concept car. Just removing the nearly useless equipment like the A-pods and ECM and adding heat sinks would make this mech far better. And if you want to go even farther, there's room for endo steel/ferro-fibrous and you can use the tonnage to maximize the armor and add more heat sinks.
Overall, a good chassis but poor in this prime configuration. |

There are only 2 things that happen when this mech appears on the field: it is either ignored or instantly killed. Most people discount it because of its light armor and serious overheating, BUT it is still very deadly. |

Everyone knows about the Loki's light armor, and everyone knows about its massive firepower. So, this mech becomes Target Number One whenever it shows its face. It's like the Hunchback IIC: everyone is scared of what it can do, but they know it'll fall easily. So they do everything they can to kill it as soon as possible. It's got a great weapons and equipment mix (barring the nearly useless AP pods), but it also has a huge "shoot me" sign pasted on it. |

I know what everyone else says, this Hellbringer is a coffin. Not enough heat sinks, little armour, too many weapons, yadda yadda, bladdy bla, I just do not care. I love this thing. It has a lot of firepower, and a little discipline will help keep that heat in check. If piloted by a pro, this thing will work wonders for any star. I personally would drop the machine guns, ammo, and A-pods for more heat sinks and armour. |
