Overview:
    After the creation of the Scorpion Empire, the leadership of the Clan found they had large
    swathes of territory to defend, but lacked the numbers of warriors with which to do so.
    Determined to make their new homeland a success, they turned to their newly conquered
    populace for the numbers needed; a move that proved very popular amongst their new citizens.
    
    
    Knowing not everyone could be a MechWarrior, and having only so many slots for infantry,
    which could not adequately defend against heavier opponents in any case, it was decided to
    increase their armor assets. Desiring a quickly developed unit that could be rapidly built,
    trained to operate and deployed to most terrains, it was decided to make a light tracked
    tank. Reviewing existing facilities and designs, the Scorpion was determined to have many
    things going for it, from the right name, an armament that could be effective and yet
    limited should betrayal become an issue, and it was a design that was capable of being
    produced in large numbers.

Capabilities:
    Keeping the 25 ton frame, it was decided to change out the engine for a fuel cell,
    increasing the speed of the design at the same time. The base Type 5 autocannon was
    exchanged for a Type 4 ProtoMech autocannon, retaining the ability to use alternate
    ammunition types. Superior clan technology allowed the scientists to also increase overall
    firepower by adding an additional machine gun and a 6 pack launcher of short range missiles
    to the turret. The missile rack is fed by a two ton ammunition bay, also allowing it to
    utilize alternate ammunition types. Superior clan armor technologies also granted the design
    slightly improved protection.

Deployment:
    The Scorpion IIC light tank has begun deployment to many garrison units; equipping several
    freeborn units.
