It's an odd design, but it's extremely versatile. It can handle just about any assignment, and has good firepower if you're not too worried about overheat. The Ultra AC/2 gives it more range than most designs- which can come in very useful. It makes a nice starmate in a heavy star- it can fill in wherever it needs to. |

This design seems to be doing too much at once.
The ER lasers and LRMs are nice for ranged fights, but the UAC is a poor substitute for a second LRM rack. AC2s are fair for trying to nickel-and-dime something to death, but doesnt really fit on this mech.
The A-pods and flamers make me think that this mech was also intended to deal with unarmored infantry. If youre that scared of infantry, why not go with a couple MGs and some ammo?
Again, this thing seems to be falling into a gap between anti-mech and anti-infantry. It can hurt and kill smaller mechs, but will be squashed by bigger ones. It can kill unarmored troopers, but it has a bit of a problem with elementals and armored troops.
I can see this being used in dedicated mech killer stars or anti infatry stars, but it just doesnt seem to have much else of use. |

The Nobori-Nin is a strange 'mech that is different to the Black Hawk only in details like pod space, internal space and integral heat sinks.
Despite being as maxed-out as the Ryoken, it actually squanders its potential on weird configurations. Of course that means it isn't used often and it can be a genuine surprise to your enemy.
The PRIME is the epitome of the Nobori-Nin weirdness. Maximising on ineffective weaponry and heavy gadgets, this should be like a 'C' variant: you know, that one aberration that gets used for scouting or urban fighting. But no, this is the primary variant of a front-line design!
Strange, but ultimately only of limited use. |

I like the basic chassis here, though in most ways it feels like a Black Hawk clone. The load-out is pretty good too, with the exception of the AC/2, a big ratings killer. The brace of medium lasers, combined with the SRMs, functions well against 'mechs or Elementals; the Artemis LRM-10 strikes me as inefficient; I would prefer an LRM-15 for the same weight, though this setup does conserve ammunition, a fixation with many second-generation omnimechs.
This load-out seems to be optimized for a long-term city slugfest or siege; it would also make a good skirmisher in forested terrain. |
