For the Pyromaniacs this is one of the most devastating mods you can bring into a forest fight or city. If you are particularly sadistic, you can literally start forest fires or just keep burning the enemy until a juicy LRM or SRM ammo explodes. |

Like most early IS omnis this base chassis has some strange features.
A lot of fixed equipment here.
I can understand why they didn´t want to put omni-JJ´s in one of there first omni mechs but installed them as fixed items. The two torso flamers are only fixed because they needed an excuse to name this a Firestarter regardless of pod configuration. But why that two additional DHS? Two more tons of pod space would make this a lot more versatile.
Nevertheless this "Prime" configuration isn´t bad. Two large lasers give it a real punch and that two added pod flamers let it live up to its name! |

The Firestarter chassis is useful but deeply flawed. The two flamers, while they sound nice, ought not to be fixed. And the two integral double heat sinks are not necessary; since they don't fit in the engine, they just suck up crits and tonnage which could go to pod mounted weapons. By being fast and reasonably well armored, the FS9-O manages to be iseful despite these flaws.
This variant is pretty effective as a scout or harasser. The large lasers give it a good punch out to medium ranges, and the flamers are kind of scary up close, especially if the target already runs hot. |

2 Large Lasers on a faster mech will guarenty it'll kill off scout mechs, and the 4 flamers will mean most heavier mechs will want to avoid it as long as possible.
Ammo bins exploding is a negative experience even in 3058. CASE can only save you for so long. |

Good scout. I like the mechs ability to find targets, and either attack or run. The large lasers are a good fit for this mod, and the flamers are brutal against infantry and armor. In a city, this thing is going to be an absolute nightmare.
Keep your eyes on your heat, though. Two large lasers and four flamers can crank out alot of heat, and if youve jumped, an alpha strike could shut this mech down Right Now. |
