Overview:
Although capable of only producing a handful of Warhammers each year, the Taurian Concordat
has embarked upon an extensive upgrade for that classic design. Determined to improve
survivability as well as heat efficiency in combat, the design teams made significant
changes to the basic chassis; most notably in the replacement of the left arm PPC with a
Class 5 autocannon.
Reviews of the new 'Mech have been rather mixed. While TDF MechWarriors do enjoy the
vastly increased armor protection and the ability to fire away without need to worry with
cooking ones self in the cockpit, they feel that something is missing from design. Mercs,
with their fierce belief in luck and superstitition, have been even more suspicious, and
export sales have been notoriously lack-luster.
Despite the lack of popularity, the TDF plans to replace all WHM-6R production with that of
the new -6T.
Capabilities:
As with other Taurian refits, the Warhammer-T replaces the standard weaponry with that
produced by local manufacturers. A High Energy Systems Corona PPC is the primary weapon
set in the right arm, while a Hyades Weapons Consortium Reprisal Class 5 Autocannon is set
in the left, along with a one ton magazine containing 20 bursts of fire. While this
configuration reduces long-range firepower by 25%, it does make the 'Hammer-T run far more
heat neutral.
For short-range combat, the main weapon is an Aurora Missilers six-tube SRM launcher and its
associated one-ton magazine, both set in the right torso. Four Martin-Gordan lasers (two
Rapier mediums and two Stiletto smalls) are divided between the right and left torso.
Finally, for added point-blank firepower and anti-personnel capability, four Hyades Weapons
Consortium Reaper machine-guns have been fitted; two each in the right and left torsos. A
single half-ton magazine for 100 bursts rests in the center torso.
One of the strangest effects of the new weapons is that while the installed heat sinks have
shrunk to a mere 13, the 'Hammer-T is actually capable of sustaining a heavier rate of fire
at both long- and short-range.
But it is the armor protection that has stunned MechWarriors used to fighting the -6R in
combat. Twelve and a half tons of standard armor provide the 'Hammer-T with protection
nearly equal to that of a Thud, transforming the venerable Warhammer into a veritable pocket
assault.
Deployment:
The first from-the-ground-up WHM-6T Warhammer walked from the doors of the Taurus
Territorial factory on June 6, 3014. In the eleven years since, both TTI and Pinard
Protectorates Limited have replaced approximately 75% of their annual production of WHM-6R
with the -6T. More than sixty machines have reached units in the field, but lackluster
export sales continue to drag profits down. Recently, however, TTI has a taken a new tack
to foreign sales, with a blitz of commerical advertising, including testimonials from
genuine TDF MechWarriors.
Variants:
One variant model, the WHM-6T-2 removes two machine-guns to mount a single center torso
flamer--a Jamestown Incendiaries Flamelord model. Although hotter running than a line
'Hammer-T, the -6T-2 has a certain flair that appeals to a particular sort of MechWarrior.
Once introduced in 3023, foreign sales saw an immediate uptick.
Notable MechWarriors:
Giles Morgan is a hard-luck 'Mech that somehow managed to scrap up the nearly six million
C-Bills needed to purchase a brand-new WHM-6T-2 from the factory showroom on Taurus. TTI
asked no questions, even though the money was in cash--and in Davion bills--and he has since
returned to Tortuga where he leads a small group of pirates seemingly intent on burning the
Davions out of their Outback possessions. Although the Taurians keep a close eye on Morgan
and his band (The Infernals), so far they haven't hit any Taurian worlds, so he is
considered a Davion problem. If that does change, however, the TDF knows where this man
sleeps.

Quite good weapon mix here. I just like the AC/5 ;) But it looses the heavy punch of two PPC's that was the Warhammers hallmark for centuries. Really not bad but no warhammer feeling here anymore (at least in my eyes).

Ouch. This refit hurt.
There is a feeling that's usually brought up when viewing the Marik and Liao refits of the Marauder, a machine brought together from whatever was at hand. I don't know if it was intended, but the WHM-6T seems to be left cheated out of it's main schtick. It's main guns now have the firepower similar to an overheated Marauder, which is hardly an impressive feat to achieve for heavy 'Mech bent on long to medium rage blasting. Heavier armour helped a bit, but the close range weapons are still not enough to make this into a full blooded brawler on par with Orions and Thinderbolts. MGs and small lasers can tick the damage up a bit, but thenyou are in minimal range of your main guns which I'd like to use despite the fact that my heat will crawl up rather quickly. Talking about better rate of fire is also not entirely true. WHM-6R can stand an fire it's entire short rage bracket and one PPC for building up 4 heat. This guy can manage short range bracket and AC/5 for 0 heat which roughly evens out with PPC every other turn (6T has two more MGs, 6R sheds a lot of extra heat). Both can manage movement heat by leaving off the small lasers. Overall I consider this to be a downgrade. +0.5 points for the story. It makes the 'Mech somewhat more paltable.
