Aw man, firstly, congrats, you have managed to do something I've spent hours on HMPro,trying to make a Light Gauss Boat.
Unfortunately though, the concessions you have made are almost unforgivable. Personally I would overlook the XL engine or the speed, but not both. There is no way this is going to stay at sniping range long enough to drop what will try and chase it down. Unfortunately, most assaults will chase this down in a few turns. I would consider dropping one LG for that speed personally. But nice idea :) |

Not too good here. XL engines for 2/3 monsters are way too inefficient. Endo-Steel would have saved more and you can use single heatsinks because LGRs generate almost no heat.
Nice idea but poorly executed. |

Five LGR's have good firepower at an insane range. This is the only good i can say about it! The XL is a bad idea here as it adds a lot of C-Bills only to get lousy 4 tons. An Endo Steel chassis would have freed up 5 tons for much fewer costs. The weapons have under 10 shots per gun and it has nothing for back up. With that range the LGR's would be out of ammo sooner than you might think. And, by the way, what are that double heatsinks for? |

I can't rate this high. By using the 200 XL engine you put a 10 pound discount on a Rolls-Royce. The engine is well protected, but additional costs (over 50%) are hardly justified, because the performance wasn't improved that much.
5 LGRs can rain shells on enemy at long range, but complete lack of backup weapons and relatively thin ammo supply turn this to a mediocre sniper and a poor 'Mech for anything else. The speed remains to be the weakest spot and I fail to see the reason to install DHSs. Moreover the 6LG doesn't respect the original layout of the design. With two gauss guns in arms there is a good chance that any crit in arms can lose both guns. The loss of LB guns also robbed the 'Mech of it's excellent crit seeking ability.
It could be at least an average refit, there is some potential, but it's also poorly executed and fluffed. Sorry, but I can't rate it any better. |

The 6LG is a decent Annihilator upgrade. You've made the sensible switch to double heatsinks and have upped the armor from 12 to a respectable 17 tons. You also have eliminated the older models range issues by switching from Autocannons to Light Gauss Rifles. Over all you've done a better job than any the cannon versions. (Except perhaps the Clan version, but that's a completely different kettle of fish.)
My major issues, however, with your design are the XL engine and the fifth Light Gauss Rifle. I don't think that the increased vulnerability can justify the saving of 4.5 tons. (You can, after all, get 5 tons with endosteel.) Further, I don't really see how the 5th LGR adds much, given the other ways that you could make use of the 12 tons.
For example, you could drop that LGR and use the 12 tons to a) switch to a regular 200 Engine or b) trade up to a 300 XL engine. In either case you could use the additional savings to add additional ammo, medium lasers or armor based on your personal desire.
But as Annihilator was a heavily flawed design to begin with, I think you've made a good attempt to upgrading it. |
