Overview:
WFT-3F model of Wolf Trap is a direct response to the advancement of technology that
    occurred during last two decades.

The development of newer and more devastating weapons that started to appear with both
clan and IS militaries started to push once new and shiny machines out of use. When this
trend caught up with the WFT, once a pioneer mech to new technologies, the Luthien Armor
Works started to close the assembly lines for the mech and moved the manufacture of spare
parts to some of the surrounding facilities while concentrating on more advanced mechs. This
move was taken as an excuse to review the old design.

Capabilities:
First move taken by the majority of designers was replacing of the old armor with bulkier
ferro fibrous plates which ensured that the mech will be able to survive a damage typically
cased by an impact of a gauss rifle projectile. This change was the most important of all
the changes made to the design, because since the introduction of the Hollander the gauss
rifle was becoming increasingly common on IS battlefields and the situation was even worse
on clan front where the Wolf Traps were often demolished by single hit that tore through
engine shielding or breached one of the ammo bins and caused explosion that severed entire
side torso and caused critical damage to the engine. Even older WFT-1s are receiving the
upgrade kit to 1F variant with new armor to increase the lifespan of the mech on the
    battlefield.

The other changes include the redesigning of communication of targeting systems and
communication gear to fully cooperate with C3 slave unit that already replaced one of medium
laser on many older mechs and complete redesign of armament. Older laser weapon was replaced
with an ER variant and LRMs gave way to a lighter Shigunga MRM launcher. This move freed
enough space to replace Code Red LB-X gun with Imperator Automatic ultra autocannon
    manufactured under license on Dover.

Unfortunately majority of the manufacturers lack the capacity to replace engine internal
heat dissipation unit with newer double strength variant that would allow the mech to use
it's full potential, so the pilots must carefully manage the activity of their new mech to
prevent rapid overheating of the mech.

    Variants:

A common field refit, the WFT-3F2 replaces the MRM launcher for an SRM rack, trading
range for increased close range damage. another popular refit uses a little smaller streak
launcher which addresses both the accuracy issues of the MRMs and heat buildup problems.

A variant known as WFT-4F will finally incorporate the double strength heat sinks, but
the nature of the DHS installation prevents performing this operation on the field.
Designing teams currently try to determine if it is possible to deliver a fusion reactor
already equipped with new heat dissipation unit and installing it into the mech while the
unit is off duty. And shipping the engine back to factory to be refitted. This would negate
the need for the mech to be shipped through entire Combine space and free the precious cargo
    space.

Deployment:
Quite a few Wolf Trap refits can be seen with various units around the Combine. Main portion
of the mechs had been shipped to Galedon Military District to receive their trial by fire
    against Davion troops.

    Notable Mechs and Mech Warriors

    Micho

Micho is currently dispossessed. A well known hothead Micho won his fame in a fight against
CN9-D5 Centurion piloted by a militia XO which he crushed in a three minutes of brutal fire
exchange when raiding the supply depot on Kesai IV. As usual Micho pushed his mech to it's
limits and the hot climate wasn't forgiving. As the last shots from his mech landed on
weakened side torso of his opponent's machine, his own ammo started to cook off. Micho was
left in place by his lance-mates who crushed the remains of his precious mech to prevent
them from falling in enemy hands and was actually lucky to find his way to civilization
soon. He was picked up by a local Kurita agent who helped him to hide until there will be a
possibility to get him back to Kurita space. It was Micho's story that speeded up the
    development of WFT-4F.
