As far as I remember, the Stone Rhino aka Behemoth does not mount an XL engine or have missing lower arm actuators.
Without any fluff to justify the design i will have to rate it rather poorly. No clans in their right minds will want to use expensive stuff like XLs on a second line mech when they have a hundred ton Omni called a Dire Wolf.
Also firepower is rather weak for a 100 tonner. 2 ERPPCs, 1 large pulse and a med pulse with TC ? I think of several clan heavy designs that can pull that off too. Also the Streaks have too much ammo and the mech is really oversinked.
Running and shooting 2 ERPPCs deal 32 heat. Toss on a large pulse laser and its 42 heat excluding jumps which is more than sufficient. Unless you are planning to be an alpha strike boat, this mech still fails. It does only 71 damage ASSUMING all rolls of the Streaks are dead on. Otherwise the damage cops out at 47 with a med pulse ??
That is pathetic for a clan assault machine. Even the original stone rhino deal like 50 damage at long range without the XL engine. |

I agree with bladewind, that this refit needs an explanation, but for your defense I must mention the Behemoth 2 from TRO 3055 upgrades that is also equipped with XL engine. From different armor allocation I assume that this may be a different model. The addition of PPCs instead of gauss rifles freed some tonnage but new weapons also produce a lot of heat and the punch provided by them and the LPL is weaker. This is offset by TC and short range weapons, but I wonder if it's worth the effort when I can field the Dire Wolf. Not bad, but without any fluff it can't get better rating. I also fail to see any lvl 3 toys. |
