At the first glance it seems like another badly designed mech but as I fielded this one for the first time I was astonished. The best feature of this mech is its mobility. The light armor doesn´t hamper it. Only the weaponry is somewhat light and odd. Two different light missile-systems aren´t a good idea (as on the SHD-2H). A friend of mine had used a variant with an SRM-6 and a ton more armor but I had have good success with two LRM-5´s: If it has the ini it can almost always choose the magic 7 hex and if it doesn´t get the ini it can retreat and sting from far.

The good ol' Assassin. Well, old anyway. The Assassin isn't a bad 'Mech, but it seems to lack focus to me, the LRM-5 in particular sticking out as an item of WTF nature. It's SRM-2 and MLAS, combined with its extreme speed make it a good backstabber though. The idea of the Assassin is on the mark, I just question the purpose of the LRM-5. If you can't close with the enemy in an Assassin, there is something strange afoot.
Heat can be an issue at times, but less so than other Level 1 designs, so it's of minor note.
Overall, I like the idea of the Assassin, and its chassis, I just prefer something in place of the LRM. More armor is also nice and handy.

Well, this mech doesn't look like a good line fighter (it isn't), but as it's name implies it's a killer. You can always use it to back stab enemy mechs if they aren't careful, but in reality this mech would kill your supply lines, especially if you use incendiary ammo and infernos. I don't need to mention what would single inferno salvo do with any vehicle, so mobile HQ beware.

You have to have patience and timing to run this Mech. In duels it does fair, in scenarios it does stellar. Its mobility make it a hard target and most do not respect it so opponents would rather target a different Mech. Having weapons at both range bands means it can add to the fight, even if as an annoyance. The trick is to find the chance to use your movement to close suddenly, get more short range damage, and go into physical attack mode.
GM- I use a fair amount of these Mechs with mixed results. So much depends on the terrain, mission, and how the players respect the Assassin. In general they are one of the last Mechs to go down.

One of the best recon hunter mechs in the 3025 level 1 era. LRM means that it will try to either soften up you up as it closes, and it should with its fantastic mobility (My personal belief is that 7/11/7 is one of the best movement combinations available in the game), or it will add in extra firepower to the ML before going below minimum. SRM means that even when below the LRM minimum range it can keep up nearly the same level of damage as with the LRM (it actually improves since both SRM's hit about 60-65% of the time). Properly upgraded with level 2 tech would improve the outstanding blend on this mech immensely.
