Compared to the -5K this Grand Dragon is a step backwarts. The ES chassis could have been used to strengthen the somewhat weak armor but instead of that they added a MASC. It can now reach a tremendous speed but more staying power would be preferable. The MRM isn't an adequate substitute for the LRM though it needs the added heat sinks because of the medium ER lasers. |

My only use for this Grand Dragon is basically pretend it was a Panther with C3. Just keep it at a long enough range that the enemy doesn't shoot at your armour/xl vulnerability.
Its a lance mech and its okay. I'd just never really want one in my force. I'd prefer a standard engine and slower. |

The MRMs make sense on this design, but the XL engine is still a points killer. |

Heres a mech that makes a good sniper as part of a C3 lance. The ER PPC will let the mech accurately hit distant targets via the link. The mech is no slouch in close range combat, either. The lasers and MRMs let the mech put up a fairly effective 'No Trespassing' sign. |
