Patch 2.24.12 Applied: |
Quick turnaround on this one. Details of what's included are as follows:
Fixes- Fixed an issue where the Turret weight was not being shown in the readout for Combat Vehicle BASE OmniVehicles.
- Fixed an issue with superheavy 'Mechs where the proper amount of ammo ,when multiple were stacked in the same slot, was not properly output in MegaMek files.
Changes- Changed how information related to armor (type, technology, and model); both main and location-specific, is stored in the database for easier, more consistent, retrieval.
- Created an Alpa Strike Stat Block table in the Summary section that displays all Alpha Strike stats as they are updated when designing units.
- Added the Combat Vehicle Escape Pod for use with all combat vehicle types.
NOTE: Any forces or units impacted by the above fixes and/or changes have had their stats recalculated to ensure accuracy. |

Overview:
With the recent revival of what was assumed to be antiquated aircraft designs like the Lyran
Stuka dive bomber, conventional force crews have been taking ever-increasing losses due to
the increased use of these conventional fighter craft. Force commanders were forced to task
more expensive aerofighters to fly CAP or to assign mech lances to escort armored companies.
In response to this crisis, the Department of the Quartermaster of the AFFS announced the
Armored Tank Anti-Aircraft (ATAA) program to develop a combat support vehicle specialized in
anti-air escort. The resulting chassis and trio of variants was designed for one sole
purpose, to provide tank columns with air suppression.
Capabilities:
The ATAA program?s requirements consisted of three primary variables: aircraft detection,
anti-air firepower, and mass producibility. Bowie Industries managed to meet these program
requirements by developing three vehicles all built on the same common chassis and engine.
Though, lightly armored compared to MBT's the ATAA has enough protection to prevent easy
destruction from a single strafing run.
Designed around a four-vehicle lance, the ATAA is meant to be deployed as a complete support
unit unless a vehicle is destroyed in combat. Deployment doctrine places the ATAA on the
inside of the outer edges of an armored force where it can quickly respond to enemy air
assets while still being supplied cover from enemy ground fire.
The major component of the ATAA?s success is that every lance is tied together via a C3
computer allowing for the quick relay of firing data to their fellow units. Functionally,
no enemy air asset is farther than the closest member of the lance. Resulting in anywhere
from four to twelve units firing their guns at any incoming hostile aircraft.
Variants:
The ATAA-1-S mounts a pair of turret mounted Mydron Model RD 30 mm rotary autocannons; in
addition, a 4-ton targeting computer enhances and further refines the firing data of the C3
system. The combination of the two systems allows for an impressive amount of anti-aircraft
shells rising to meet any aircraft that strays close enough to the unit?s firing envelope.
The ATAA-1-LM mounts a pair of turret mounted Mydron Model D-RF 30mm ultra autocannons;
similarly to the 1-S, a 4-ton targeting computer enhances and further refines the firing
data of the C3 system. The 1-LM unlike the 1-S mounts a C3 Master computer in addition to a
C3 Slave unit, allowing it to receive and coordinate all of the lance?s sensor and targeting
data feeds.
Finally, the ATAA-1-CM mounts a pair of turret mounted Mydron Excel 2SG 30mm LB-X
autocannons; the 1-CM lacks the targeting computer. Instead, the 1-CM mounts pair of C3
Master computers allowing to to receive and coordinate the sensor and targeting data feeds
for an entire company. Due to the 1-CM?s dual processers link together the company into a
giant Anti-aircraft network, they are deployed only to the largest of forces.
These are the only known variations to the ATAA chassis.
