Just came up with an idea for some fluff text based on a campaign series I'm working on. Just want to see what people think of it.

===Overview===
If the first phase of the Jihad could be described on one phrase, it would be "mutual Pyrrhic victory". On one hand, the Word of Blake successfully captured over 90% of the Inner Sphere and all of the major Periphery nations save for the Outworlds Alliance. On the other hand, they failed to capture several key worlds, including Caph, Solaris VII, and Northwind... all planets from which retaliatory strikes would come, including the AFNN-led strike that liberated Terra from Blakist control.
But while the New Terran Hegemony had won a critical victory against the Word of Blake, forcing them to retreat to Sirius and rely on low-tech machines like the SHD-2B Shadow Hawk to replace their losses, they were forced to confront a stark reality of their own: while the New Terran Hegemony had factories aplenty, they had few trained soldiers who could properly operate what those factories produced.
To compensate for this, the AFNN devised the rather bluntly-named Operation: Sucker Punch. In the decades before the Jihad, the AFNN had sent sleeper agents to various worlds in an effort to negotiate trade alliances and/or pursue other missions to better AFNN interests. In time, the AFNN received word from most of these agents that they had survived the Jihad and escaped Blakist custody, and as such could provide intelligence data on the planets where they were now residing.
The plan for Sucker Punch was as daring as it was simple: a jumpship would jump into a planet's system with a complement of aerospace fighters and LAMs. While the fighters established a screen, the LAMs would swoop down to the surface of the planet and begin hitting targets. If the fighter screen held and the LAMs were successful, reinforcements would be called in to finish the job. If not, the LAMs and fighters would return, and the jumpship would jump back out, leaving devastation and confusion in their wake. In this fashion, it was hoped, the NTH forces could be allocated more efficiently.
But while the AFNN already had a solid stable of LAMs to choose from, it was decided that a new design was needed to be the vanguard of this operation; that design was the Alicorn.
==Battle History==
The test case for Operation: Sucker Punch was the planet Quentin. Not only was Quentin home to Independence Weaponry - a factory that the Blakists were hoping to use to recover their losses - it was near enough to NTH strongholds Northwind and Errai to allow for prompt reinforcement.
With Nemesis space dominance and Archimedes heavy fighters serving as a screen, a lance of LAMs (an Alicorn leading three Assassin LAMs) descended to the planet in order to neutralize a mobile orbital laser that was being deployed. With the Alicorn's Angel ECM in place, the lance successfully flanked the Blakist forces guarding the weapon; the first clue the Blakists had that something was wrong came when a blast from the Alicorn's ER PPC punched through the rear armor on the force commander's Toyama, causing mech and pilot to disappear in a flash as the reactor went up. Not only did the lance eventually succeed in capturing the laser intact, they held it until the sleeper agents could come and take control.
Not content with their easy victory, the lance continued hitting targets across the sector, with the Alicorn's ECM and ER PPC combination leading the way. Over the course of a single afternoon, an air base, a fire base, several companies of armor & infantry, and a Union-class dropship were all laid to waste. With the Nemesis and Archimedes wings having swept the Blakist fighters from the system, the NTH forces assumed control of the skies, enabling reinforcements to arrive.
