The game of armored combat is slowly shifting toward the game of legged armored combat?
It's been a while since I saw vehicles in an organized play event. A shame since they're generally interesting and stir up things compared to plain 'mechs only gaming. PBI is just too slow to keep up with the mobile variety of battle.
I haven't even looked how well vehicles rack up compared to 'mechs by BV(2) - I'll do that tonight.

Vehicles sadly lack the feel of variety that mechs have with weapon loads and stuff. Note I say feel because a mech with an AC/10, LRM/10, and 2 ML is still very much a Centurion no matter its weight and speed profile.
The Mekwars server I play on is combined arms so we employ vehicles ALOT. They require a different frame of mind to play and careful regulation of force design to prevent system abuses (a swarm of Savannah Masters). _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

With random force composition, vehicles support mechs rather well. Especially with the spirit of 3025s when mechs are increasingly scarce and expensive, new infantry rules together with vehicles make combined arms into a viable proposition.
Not to mention making machine guns more viable arms again!

Damnit. There just isn't a justification, is there?

i gave the reason: vehicles are uninteresting to design and publish. Mechs draw attention even if they are lighter or heavier copies of an existing design. Vees do not. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

mud?! Repopulating this old den?
How long has it been?
<goes off pondering that one of the first posts he read in this place was one of mud's pals "complaining" about him being in the college rooms, college hallways, walls, etc, way back when in 98...>
I think the complaint was about lack of vees in poor Mordel's TRO section, right? _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

Bah! Vehicles are cool! I love my tanks swarming under 'Mech legs and supporting oter players. Perhaps it does have something with my dungeonmastering, but I don't really mind having more expendable and numerous units doing the dirty work. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

It is pretty awesome...any chance it will be updated with later TROs

I really wish I had the time to do more work on this site! There are a ton of things I'd love to incorporate. The TRO section would be the driving focus with lots of features and functionality.

Well, there IS an upgrade that could be done with current layout - new equipment from Total Warfare, namely variant PPCs, plasma things, HAGs and so on. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

If you revamp the TRO section of the site, please copy the existing TROs as a historical copy. They are the very best representation of the print sheets done by FASA in the mid-/late-90s online and I'm proud to say that I did quick checks on this site when I created RS 3050U-IS. That needs to be preserved. Then, let the revamping begin!! 8) _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

Well, they do still put the TROs out in TRO format, so it makes sense to keep it the way it is. Though to be honest, there's nothing stopping me from presenting the same information in various formats.
I actually have some cool filtering implemented in the admin section (that no one can see), which almost makes revamping moot, as once implemented you can do searches and filtering.

Yeah the upgrades to the existing mechs on the site would be awesome. Although I have purchased all the downloads of the TROs I still come to this site to look up mechs look at reviews. I also like the record sheets here and think they are the best representation of the original FASA sheets
