So, I started making updates to the site again, and one of the areas I really want to focus on is the TRO section. I already think mine is one of the best (albeit out-dated a bit), but I want to make it a place people go. So, there's certainly a bunch of thing I can do to make designing better and changes to support more. But what I want to do first is find out what I need to do to get things up-to-date.

I haven't looked much at the new rules books, so hoping you guys can do some of the work for me. Smile I'd like to compile a list of changes that were done that I can incorporate. Obviously how you build a mech isn't different, but a couple things that come to mind are BV2 calculations and that whole X-C-D availability thing. I think those are relatively easy to get in, but is there anything else?

Also, I really want to restructure the TRO section. With all the different TRO record sheet books released, I'm not sure the current method is the best. Any thoughts?

Once I get this squared away we can start looking at requests to be able to import/export MegaMek files, HMP files and all that fun stuff that makes it easier to share designs.

Think of the future of my TRO section as the Cloud for storing your mech designs. That's my goal!

Veee section Very Happy

Heh, there are a few new things among equipment and some were moved to level 2 (since we have now just tournament legal and advanced, but the old tech levels were actually a bit better IMHO). I'd certainly prefer the Mechs left in TRO books, as it's easier to look things up in proper TRO/RS when you're looking for it.

Just a question. Did Rick already improive the HMPro to the new rules already?

Don't hold your breath for Vehicles. Smile

OK, I'll need to review all the stats and everything with the equipment. Yes, there now is no more Level 1, 2 or 3, but just Tournament or Advanced. I'll need to read up a tad more and reclassify everything.

I know HMP has BV2. He hasn't put out a new version yet (no 6.0), so it's likely he hasn't moved completely to the new rules as of yet.

I would like to see a Vee section as well.

Other than that. I think just updating the mechs to follow the new rule set should be good. I actually like the set up as it is. /shrug that is just me though.

Actually I'd also vote for keeping the levels. just some equipment would have to be moved. Lvl 2 things now include things like small cockpits and XL gyros, which would be things that would have to be tweaked, but I don't think that we have to disperse the levels at all. Level 1 is actually just a line dividing tournament leagal to normal and simple tech, so for the purposes of this page it can be kept without really disturbing anything IMO (and it would have some nostalgic old school feeling).

So Level1/2 falls under the Tournament Legal classification, correct?

I don't see a reason I can't classify mechs as Both L1, 2 or 3 as well as Tournament or Advanced. The menu can also be updated to allow listing on both conditions. The only part it really impacts is when you View Custom. I can just slap Tournament/Advanced options onto that dropdown.

Hiya. Obviously Mordel's schooled me very well in the olden days, because I've now been doing a bit of RS work for CGL.

Your TRO section has been invaluable - I would like to request it to be archived, if you want to change it. Basically, it reflects the old print RS and your site is the *only* source for those online.

You can always just mirror the files and re-order them for the new endeavours.

About tech levels. There are now four levels in BT:

Intro (= level 1, without artillery)
Standard (= level 2, without artillery or mines, but with new TechManual toys)
Advanced (= about half of level 3, as well as large AeroTech stuff and artillery and mines)
Experimental (the rest of level 3)

Thanks for your comments. You all have talked me into keeping the old level options. I will, however, also add in the new way of defining them. I'll create separate menu options for them, that way folks can view them however they'd like!
