Anybody else here read Neil Gaiman's latest book "American Gods"?

Horhiro, tell Amy to go out and get this book. She will thank me assuming your little weed ever gives her time enough to read.

Okay, I told her. She does get to read a little bit, so maybe I'll pick it up for her. It'll give her something to do when the BoSox aren't on!

I have had the honor of meeting Mr. Gaiman at a signing at That's Entertainment several years ago (Sandman #13 had just come out). I found him to be one of the most intellegent people I have ever met, and have read (or own and plan to read) just about every word he has written.

I (along with 3 others) got to speak with him for almost 2 hours while he signed stuff for the store after the "public" signing. It was totally unbelievable that someone could have such well formulated opinions about so many different topics.

Is "That's Entertainment" still around? As I remember the Worcester gaming group had a not so PC nickname for it's owner.

That place had so much stuff I could look around for hours....

TE is still around, but I think you're confusing it with Fabulous Fiction which closed a couple years ago.

We used to call it "The Fat Man's" as the owner was a man of tremendous girth.

I don't remember him being that large actually. Or maybe that's just because I'm used to seeing a lot of rather large people at gaming cons. I do remember him being rather rude and idiotic about his business practices.

He was that also, but he was at one point easily over 400lbs...

yes you're absolutely right! "The fat man", now that brings back some fun memories. He had a store in Southbridge for a while too right?

Was "That's entertainment" owned by a Paul? Right next door to Bernie/Hardware's apartment?

Paul still own's TE, and it did used to ne next to Bernie's place. Now it's at 244 Park Ave (rt9). Check out the store pics at http://www.thatse.com to se how big it is.

Here's one you wouldn't expect, but...

I don't like Gaiman's work.

I don't *hate* it ... he's no Morrison, for example ... but I don't like it.

To me, both he and Morrison try so hard to be Alan Moore and fail so horribly, I can't bear to watch.

Something for every one, I reckon.

Hey, Old Dog, I believe Moore, Gaiman and the like to be pretentious bores.

But there's a gem by Gaiman, coauthored with Terry Pratchett. "Good Omens". Hilarious!
The end of the world will never be the same again.

Well, I`ve only read "Watchmen" by Alan Moore, so I can`t exactly say how Gaiman tries to be Moore. Care to explain?
