Hello everyone!
It's been a long time since I have posted here since I have had to take a break from B-Tech for a couple of years. But me and my tech partner are getting back into the game again and a situation arose that we were not sure about.

In the normal rules. If a weapon is critically hit and has not been fired that turn. The ammunition inside the weapon explodes. Doing damage to the mech as required. But this happened with an artillery weapon (arrow IV)
We were unsure as to whether the mech takes 20 damage, as well as the hexes nearby all take the 10 damage they would do under normal artillery hits. Or does the mech take the full 30 damage, or simply 20? We couldn't find any clarification on this and were wondering what you guys would do?

Good to be back,

No, it does not.

OK...

Seems that me and my friend have been playing an optional rule without knowing it!
Lucky for me noone hit my weapons in the recent tournament I took part in, that would have been embarressing!

No no weapon critical hits, just a gauss rifle to the head... on both my mechs! Crying or Very sad

Cheers for the help!

There is an optional rule about hot loading LRMs that I think would cause a single shot explosion if the weapon was hit...someone more familiar with that rule will hopefully speak up.

But under the regular rules, no explosion. Wink

Except a Gauss Rifle. But thats from the rifle itself, not the ammo.

So, not "except".

Yes, "except", its still a weapon hit causing an internal explosion. And its my guess thats where their confused "house rule" ended up coming from. Someone misremembered and voila. That or the hot loading LRMs you suggested.

Dude, under the normal rules ammo does not explode in weapons when that weapon takes a critical hit. There are no "excepts".

Indeed, maybe it was just some kind of common sense rule we came up with over time. It does sort of make sense really. But it wasn't a mistake over the gauss rifle or hot loaded LRM's. I simply made a mistake in my rules knowledge.

Never mind Chi, you're arguing semantics. I was marking an exception to EXPLOSIONS from a critical hit to a weapon. I never said it was from ammo.

Heh, well, at least you admit it. Gotta respect you for that.

It's not semantics. The question asked was ammo explosions from weapons taking critical hits. I even bolded the text when I quoted to give the answer. Gauss rifles are not an exception to this rule as the ammo does not explode when it takes a critical hit, which again, is what the question was.

Under the level two/tournament rules, there are no "excepts".
