==Overview:==
Based on the classic Urbenmech design, the HPU Urban Unit has instead been
designed for cash straped police forces.

Depending on tried and true design patterns for the original Urbanmech, the
Heavy Patrol Unit can be used by police forces for heavy armored support wh
dealing with well armed terrorists and riots.

It is because of this reason that the HPU is perhaps not as well thought of
other Mech Units, but it does have one unique advantage. Young men and woma
desperate for a chance to enter the ranks of the MechWarriors have a chance
prove themselves in the Police, as no MechWarrior will use an HPU. If they
supperior combat abilities, they might win the chance to go to a MechWarrio
acadamy and win a BattleMech from their State. This unexpected side affect
been seen by many gifted youngsters and Police Forces with the HPU have see
their ranks swell.

==Capabilities:==
With a massive AC/10 and a heavy flamer, the HPU is well equiped to deal wi
even the most dangerous Pirates and terrorists. Plenty of ammunition makes
HPU an excellent guard unit, able to patrol, effectively tight areas where
other units are unable to go.

The Mechanical Jump Boosters, a new type of jump system that depends on
hydraulics and myomer bundles, rather then jump jets, allow it to have the
mobility to get across obsticales, or, as is more common, the ability to la
on top of hastily constructed barriers and crush them into the ground, allo
regular police forces to get through and arrest those that have errected th
Nothing quiet convinces a group of criminals to surrender like 35 tons of s
jumping down on top of them.

However, the HPU has a number of weaknesses, the most notable being its spe
which is compounded by its not adequate armor. Being no faster then the ave
trooper, the HPU can quickly be surounded by enemy troops, forcing it to fi
its way out of tough situations.

To help fix this problem, the designers made it so that the arms could flip
back, allowing it a wide range of fire. Infantry should be put off by the h
flamer, accurate at more distance then most of their weapons, as well as th
AC/10, a massive weapon which can blast through most foritications.

The designers also point out that the armor is adequate for POLICE, and the
unit is not meant to be used by military forces, except perhaps MP's for
guarding a prison.

==Battle History:==
House Liao has put the HPU to good use against terrorist attacks from the 6
of June movement, a splinter radical group of Word of Blake. Those notables
attacked a training compound on an undisclosed world. However, the MP's the
had recently aquired a lance of URB-12 Heavy Patrol Units. Deploying quickl
the MP's were able to destroy the Word of Blake terrorists quickly. One who
squad burned to death in their truck, the victims of the Heavy Flamer.

==Variants:==
As this is a varient of the original UrbanMech their are no varients. Some
has gone into removing the AC/10 and making room for a squad of infantry, a
more heavy flamers and perhaps SRM racks, but this has not seen production.

==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:==
Officer Yvonne Suiza had a dream, to become a MechWarrior. Unfortanitly she
came from a background of horse farmers, raising pure bred stock for some o
the best racers in existance. However, she had hope and had become a police
officer, hoping to rise to such prominence as to be rewarded a chance at th
military. When the HPU came out, she convinced, and used some of her father
family connections to help her, the Superindentent to buy a lance of the
machines, and she volunteered to pilot them herself. After a crash course f
retired MechWarriors, and their sarcastic comments, Yvonne was rated to pil
one of the machines and named the overall HPU commander.

Unknown raiders from the mountains, a group of farmers and industrial worke
that had been laid off when the factories closed due to the civil war led a
strike to get what they wanted from the one city on the planet, the one tha
Yvonne now guarded. Somehow, and many suspect either Liao or Steiner influe
they had managed to aquire a number of Scorpion tanks.

As the tanks approached the city, Yvonne kept her HPU's down. As they hit t
city, active scans showed no fusion bottles. Thinking this to be an easy ra
the tank commander ordered the assault. Suddenly four HPU's leaped out of t
sky line and landed among the startled tank crews. Opening fire at point bl
range with flame thrower and AC/10, not to mention the devestating affects
35 tons landing on one of the tanks by mistake, Yvonne was able to lead her
lance successfully against the raiders, destroying most of their tanks in t
first minute of the battle. They surrendered and were taken into custody.

==Deployment==
Currently HPU units are deployed in the House Davion, House Liao, and House
Marik. They have also seen deployment in the poor Periphery and Chaos March

hmmmmm...I've kinda bit my tongue on this one, since at first I thought 1/2 !?!? Thing is thogh, I just realized this thing starts at like 1.2 million base, and a 100 tonner 1/2 starts at like 3.6 million base....and I now see the cause. Why not use a UAC though?
