Okay prior to all of the silliness of the Jihad, by that I mean let's leave it out of this topic, do you think that Marik and Laio would have gone to war over Sun Tzu's treatment of Marik's daughter, given that it was both a political slam to the Free Worlds League as well as a personal slight to Thomas?
Or do you think Thomas would have ignored? How much political fall really came from the ending of their relationship and the ties between to the two nations?
Could Sun Tzu's actions have been the trigger for a wider regional war that might have spilled over into the FedCom or caused an earlier alliance like the Trinity Alliance to come into play? _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

My take is that their was little actual fall out over the break up itself. Sun Tzu kicks Isis out of the Confederation in 3062. According to FM:Update things are quiet on the Marik-Liao border until raiding begins again in 3066. At that point it's Capellan forces that are the culprits.
Sun Tzu's a bit of a wild card, but I think that he would have been more focused on consolidating his power/absorbing former Liao worlds in the Chaos March before launching a full scale war with the Free Worlds League. (This is also assuming that other events that occur during the Jihad, such as Hasek's invasion of St Ives or the Skye attacks on the FWL, don't come to pass.)
My sense is that had the Jihad not happened, hostilities between the former allies would have continued to grow, but it would have been raid/counter raid and less a full scale war.
