Went to Origins and got my hands on a TR3075.
$40 is a little steep for a TRO. But with the price of everything and the objective is to keep Catalyst afloat not a big deal. Also when you see how thick it is $.13 a page. From the edge it has two colors, grey and white.
Grey is the new 3075 stuff, white is the early succession wars with some updated variants. The white section is done by house. Each house has different items from ICE mechs and vehicles, to drop ships. There is no requirement each house have one.
Standard text layout. The pages are full. Sometimes they put the "stats" on the text page other times the picture. I think it was done in a few cases to fill up the text. 5 artists did the work but it seems 3 styles prevail. Those 3 are very different from each other. You can see that some look like they are from Mechwarrior or Dark Age. Trying to import a few over.
BTW, protomechs are not dead. That and the Battlearmor have taken a little more of the anime flair while Mechs have the old Loose look.
Talked to Coleman and I think it was Herb Beas about the various direction and quality of the new books. It does seem they want to reset the game a little. The 3065 age got a little out of control with RCT. It seems they want a Battalion of Mechs to be a major force again. An RCT is like a hammer from God.
One other thing was the Battletech Introductory Boxed set won some sort of award for game of the year in some segment.
Hit your local game store up and get a copy or have them order it. Better to support local than save 10-20% and get it online.
AWAD- Nothing like driving a pair of 3025 Crusaders versus 6 3055 Assualt Mechs...... and living for 3 rounds

Well, the protos and BAs are mostly gathered from Jihad Hot Spots and Combat Equipment, aren't they? (+ Jihad / DA 'Mechs) _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

For me it would be some of the BAs and utility stuff (Yeah, I can make my own, but sometimes I'm just lazy and these at least don't try to make the vee to an armoured train...), Pariah (okay, the Huntsman can replace this), SLDF Royal Units section (Just let us see what the real SLDF was like), Icarus II, Deathstalker, Marsden II (needs a heavy PPC variant ), Crossbow, Thunderbird, Ignis, Torro and Vulcan.
And there are things that I'd rather avoid. JES I (5/8 hover?), DI Morgan (It's usable, but for this price I can buy several old Awesomes), Wight (Not sure whether the decreased speed and armour were worthy trade to get the compact engine), Mongoose II, Legionnaire, Bear Cub (simple and inexpensive doesn't fit well with XL engines), Crimson Hawk (I can get better capabilities for less then half of the price by adding 5 tons and using standard engine), Sun Cobra (XL isn't cheap and what are the DHSs good for on a 'Mech with only two gauss rifles?), Ryoken II, most of the proto stuff, Atlas II (Poor, poor Atlas! What have they done to you my preciousss? And who remade the pic to look like this? Was it really necessary?) and Ymir (Missile launcher splits). _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
