Summary
I have finally implemented threading back into the forums after a lengthy absence after the theme update. Threading has been implemented very similarly to how it was done previously. So as not to throw everyone into an uproar, I've defaulted the viewing style to 'Flat' mode. However, anyone registering from this point on will get a default of 'Threaded' for their viewing style.
Considerations
Because some people will be viewing in Threaded mode, I have added a new "Reply" icon within each post. Using this new reply icon will attach your reply to that post as a child of that post. Hitting the main reply button at the top or bottom of the topic will always attach your reply to the first post.
What is this "threading" thing?
Threaded viewing enables you to view one post at a time. All other posts are listed in a table below the post you are currently reading. This mimics, to an extent, how newsgroups and older style message boards functioned. I happen to like this style. Some do not.
So how do I change my viewing style to threaded?
If you are a new member, it will already be set to Threaded. If not, you can change it by following these simple steps:
1. Click on the Account Management icon (the earth icon) in the menu bar
2. Enter your current password
3. Scroll down to the Preferences section
4. Change the "Bar & Grill Viewing Style" selection from 'Flat' to 'Threaded'
5. Click submit It's that easy!!!
What if something isn't working properly?
If you notice a problem with how the Threaded viewing is working, or think it should be changed in some manner, you can enter a ticket using the Electronic Request System. I will promptly review the ticket and respond.
How do I navigate?
There are two ways to navigate while in threaded mode. The first is to click directly on the post in the Topic overview table under the post you are reading. The second is to use the navigation buttons immediately underneath the post. There is a First, Previous, Next and Last icon. They will be grayed out if they are not applicable.
