These are some customs that I'm looking to suggest to the party I'm running. I'd simply like for everyone to look them over and see what people think.

The rational for this variant is as follows.
By downgrading the AC/10 for an AC/5, the mech gains range and ammo capacity in addition to some free tonnage. More free tonnage is gained by going to 10 DHS.
CASE was added to the right torso to protect the ammo, and a full ton of armor was added to help the mech survive longer. The rear armor is a little thicker than before, and a rear-firing medium laser was mounted to help discourage flanking.
To compensate for the minimum range of the AC/5, I upped the small to a medium and added an SRM 4. The mech is now more lethal at short range, especially against vehicles.

Rationale:
During the last outing, the party's Commando got slagged.
The party was fighting against an Enforcer (see above), and the Commando was forced to close to within range of the AC/10 and large laser in order to engage it. Less than a minute into combat, the Enforcer pilot hit the SRM ammo in one of the torsos, blowing the mech to pieces.
The player wishes to retain the Commando, and so I'll GM fiat and say that the Commando will be able to be repaired but it'll be some time in the process.
I'm looking to trade out the SRM 6 for an LRM 5 rack and CASE. The LRM rack will give the mech the tactical flexibility to actually fall back and snipe at such mechs as the Enforcer, while the CASE will help prevent the ammo from detonating again.

Rationale:
The player who had the Commando was toying with the idea of mounting a PPC on his mech so that he could have both range and damage. This also meant stripping the SRM racks, so no risk of ammo explosion.
I went to DHS as it would be the only way for the mech to move and fire the PPC in the same turn without building up heat.

I don't like that Enforcer-variant but thats because of my prejudice about any Enforcer without his AC/10
Actually it will performe quite good in combat : some added range and a crit-seeker will counter
the loss of punch at medium ranges. The medium laser is much more usefull instead of the former can-opener
and the added rear laser will have its moments too!
The first Commando (COM-2D??) is an interesting variant. I've made a 3025 variant with an LRM-5 instead
of the SRM-4 but your Commando trades a bit firepower for two life and mech saving CASE! Not bad, really! I like it!
The second Commando (COM-2D????????) isn't bad too! reminds my of a Panther with more speed

Since it weilds Dble heat sinks anyway, drop the AC/10 for aPPC and perform you changes. You'll be able to add a ton or two of misc equip afterwords. May suggestion is a DHS and upgrade the SRM/4 to a Streak or 6 rack.
Otherwise, its a solid upgrade that full fills its intended purpose straight up.

You loose a lot here, but it will give you the range ability being sought. Not much more I can say... maybe if its far enough in the future load a Light PPC on this thing instead.

Rationale:
During the last outing, the party's Commando got slagged.
The party was fighting against an Enforcer (see above), and the Commando was forced to close to within range of the AC/10 and large laser in order to engage it. Less than a minute into combat, the Enforcer pilot hit the SRM ammo in one of the torsos, blowing the mech to pieces.
The player wishes to retain the Commando, and so I'll GM fiat and say that the Commando will be able to be repaired but it'll be some time in the process.
I'm looking to trade out the SRM 6 for an LRM 5 rack and CASE. The LRM rack will give the mech the tactical flexibility to actually fall back and snipe at such mechs as the Enforcer, while the CASE will help prevent the ammo from detonating again.

Rationale:
The player who had the Commando was toying with the idea of mounting a PPC on his mech so that he could have both range and damage. This also meant stripping the SRM racks, so no risk of ammo explosion.
I went to DHS as it would be the only way for the mech to move and fire the PPC in the same turn without building up heat.

As you can see it can be done in one post... just to prove that...
ENF - Not too fast, but it jumps adn the firepower is pretty good.
COM 1 - I don't like this refit, but it may work. The reason for this is that CASE is, well, taking too much tonnage. I would rather toy with the allocation of things.
COM 2 - I want a Panther... I think that there were prototypes with LL, but I like the SRM armament of the original. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
