Given the recent Tech Manual, the numerous amounts of new technology, and the addition of Rocket Launchers, how many here think that they should make the iOS Missile launchers standard equipment? How about if they where hot loaded [blew up if crited]?
for those who do not remember, the iOS launcher took a standard missile launcher [srm, stsrm, lrm, or mrm with any ammo type] and shaved off 0.5t of weight. This meant that an IS SRM-2 iOS weighed 0.5t. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Sure why not...it's not like the OS shot weapons are there already so why not give the iOS stuff the chance to see the light of day...more stuff for the munchkins to abuse...
To bad the rules don't let you jettison OS stuff one they are used, but then again I am not a fan OS stuff on mechs...vehicles sure and BA/Protos makes sense, but mechs just don't seem like that kind of unit... _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

I think OS launchers are a real waste, improving them is a waste of resources imo. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". I've voted for "Other" as I think even the iOS launchers are too heavy for what they offer! (Especially the bigger ones!)
I would use this launchers if they were not only 0,5t lighter but 50% lighter!
That would leave an SRM-2 iOS at 0,5t and would drop an LRM-20 iOS from unacceptable 9,5t to a barely acceptable 5t. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Given the addition of rocket launchers, it seems kind of pointless to me. I'm already a great fan of rocket launchers, at least, when dealing with troops of at least veteran level. Regular troops have trouble with them, and green troops ought to stay well clear. _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

In general the OS system was a waste. The wieght savings for OS or iOS is useless. Rocket Launchers take that place. Maybe a different version Rocket Launcher for other functions would be better. Plus we have so many new weapons coming on line we need to control it before we have to have a 50 page weapons manual and the game bogs down.

Voted for other.
There was a topic concerning the OS launchers some time ago and I and Rudel were both for halving the launcher size, not just 0.5 down. That is simply a waste on anything bigger than SRM-2.
Can anyone reasonably explain why does a standard SRM with 100 missiles weight 2t and OS SRM with 2 missiles and without ammo feeder weight 1.5t? _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

The TechManual has this to say:
"the single-shot missile launcher design simply modifies a standard missile launch system with a shortened, fixed mount ammo bin carrying a one-salvo capacity."
Otherwise, it still has the ammo feeder. it is just shortened alot. Stupid really.

It sounds like the ammo feeder IS the bin. The feed link is just long enough to hold the ammo, and thats it.
Does anyone know the cost in C-bills for OS systems, as opposed to their full size counterparts, and the rocket launchers? My books are in a state of dissaray, as most of them are still in Vancouver, ATM... _________________ Meddle not in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
